I dream of being an international spy, blending in seamlessly in far corners of the world, speaking the local language and being mistaken for a native.

I can probably recite every line in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. For example, and in relation to the spy thing above:

Brody's got friends in every town and village from here to the Sudan. He speaks a dozen languages, knows every local custom. He'll blend in. Disappear. You'll never see him again.

Perhaps because of that, I’m almost always trying to learn a language (right now, I’m refreshing my French after years of neglect) and almost always dreaming of travel (on the list for the next trip, Turkey, Morocco or Italy.)

I read. For fun I tend to read sci-fi and fantasy, and when I feel guilty about the lack of intelligent reading, I read assorted non-fiction. My favorite magazine is the Economist, and one of these days, I'll actually manage to finish reading the current issue cover-to-cover.

Other things I like/do:

- Hanging out at good bars on quiet nights - with wide beer selection, great company and fun conversation. (I'll admit to being a bit of a beer snob.)

- During NFL season, watching a ridiculous amount of football. (This is sacrilege in Canada, I know, but I really don't watch hockey.)

- Exploring the city. I can always be talked into hanging out at bookstores, going to museums and galleries, browsing flea markets and thrift stores, trying out interesting, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and listening to the TSO/cool international music/indie bands. (I'll listen to anything except country.)

I’m generally willing to try new things, am mostly laid-back, upbeat, tolerant and nice. Oh, and I have a cat (that I adore), so it helps to like cats.

I’m looking for a guy with intelligence, a sense of humor and curiosity about the world. I look for the same things in the guys I date as I do in my friends - I like men who are well-read, well-informed, and interested in a variety of things.

Coffee? Beer? And of course, good conversation.
