About Me
Hum...about me. Hard working, love to read, and prefer home, but when out and about I surprise myself. With a friend in London, last year, at a Board of Directors dinner, I got placed at the head of the table. I asked two or three people if my name place was correct, yes it was, and I managed to pull it off, with one of the directors, next day, saying, "boy, we had some fun last night. We have to do that again." Why yes, thank you...that was great for my ego. I think the "big boys" enjoy a country girl who knows how to operate a locomotive pulling a big freight train.
Current events are interesting, and I like to be updated, but news and tv don't hold my interest. "Girl" movies, not blood and guts are my thing. A good action-packed thriller with romance is the best; James Bond is a bit too predictable ("James Bond, doppio sette!", is a joke you would have to be American in Italy to understand). In Italy, however, James Bond is one of the best shows, ha!
People who know what they are about, and have no need to prove anything, "just be" (the Tao), are few and far between. I like individuals who have a lot of interests, but who also are comfortable doing nothing...smell the flowers. Being good in business is a great asset as long as it isn't ALL about the money. Being in the moment is a luxury I feel we should not want to miss. Little things mean a lot! People are interesting to observe, and sometimes I am a bit too insightful for fakes...it makes them uncomfortable! I would rather be quiet than gossip, and talk with each other about ourselves, but...a little goes a long way. It is good to be in touch with the soul and action makes me feel better.
Speaking of action, I have lots of energy. Yoga is a daily practice, I enjoy bicycling, walking, hiking, swimming, or dancing. The outdoors is my preference. The country is a great resting place, but a mix with the city adds comfort to my daily needs.
Summertime and good weather may find me on a river, lulling about lazily sunning. If a friend has a boat, ah, especially sailing, I'll gladly accept an invitation. A katamaran, I used to own, left my son shouting, "you're crazy". I had it heeled in the wind while I stood up in the saddle shouting gleefully. I love the sand and waves. Snorkeling is beautiful.
A Triumph Bonneville hidden away for mad escapes is a fav. Inside I have a little fairy that likes to ride free!!! My first ride made me wish I packed a gun because of the group that started following, ha! I am a safe rider who does not prefer rough, drunk, red-neck motorcycle gangs. At a biker bar (with a friend), I learned not to play the juke box and dance about at the same time.....sandwiched between two big bikers, no thank you!
It's beautiful outside. Speaking of which, I love thunderstorms....
First Date
When meeting someone new, I like to get acquainted, first visually (goes without saying), and then chatting to "feel the vibes", over a coffee, tea, margarita, or wine, in a comfortable place. Being where there is more happening that creates interactions with other people would be helpful to really see the person in action, being theirself, and I myself. People are more attractive having a good time and being natural. "Creating" the first impression can be fake, and I am definitely a sensitive person who prefers to play it safe, so a restaurant, coffee shop, or happy hour is comfortable for me; nothing fancy for a "get acquainted" chat.
