About Me
Self promotion was never really a strong point of mine, so I’ll try to do this without sounding too narcissistic. I’m a pretty well rounded person as far as interests go, so finding something in common with me is fairly easy. I have an obsession with developing my talents and I think the only thing I’ve ever asked from someone is to give me the space to pursue them. Looking back on my life, I feel as though I wasted a lot of time in my early twenties, so diving head first into art and culture is a huge priority for me. I’m extremely opinionated when it comes to politics and the human condition around the world, but I can assure you that I won’t shove my ideologies down your throat (unless you challenge me to do so). Even if we were complete polar opposites in our thinking, I think I would find that intriguing, unless you are a racist, or a sociopath, or some other degenerative trait.
Art and chess are two big passions of mine so if you find that boring, I suppose that's alright, however I think that people who don't really share an interest in each other’s pursuits tend to hold each other back creatively. Music is also a big part of my life but it has become a very bitter-sweet thing for me. I studied classical and jazz (but mainly classical) guitar for almost fifteen years but I then developed a somewhat rare musician’s injury that ruined my technique. During the past year and a half, I’ve been able to become more accepting of this. A friend of mine said that I have to “learn to mourn the death” of the musician within me and come to terms with it. I’m not sure that I can fully grasp the meaning of that, but I think I’m beginning to.
With the death of the musician came the rebirth of the artist and I’m really focusing on my first talent which is drawing. Chess, on the other hand, has always been a necessary distraction. I began playing in my early twenties and became a candidate master when I was 28. So, if you ever want to learn the game, you'd have the ideal teacher.
I have to admit that I’m a little cynical about the online dating phenomenon. It seems as though it’s a bit challenging to hold someone’s attention on this thing. I guess that’s just the inevitable paradox of the online dating world. It’s marketed as this alternative vehicle to find “the one” but then they proceed to inundate you with the profiles of nearly half the world’s population. I think that when people are exposed to this process, they might still believe that they are looking for a meaningful relationship but just slowly end up playing out their adolescent rejection fantasies on a subconscious level.
Ok…I think I’ll shut up now.
Oh…and just so you know, I’m a dad to a brilliant little 4 year old boy and I’m very involved in his life, so if dating people with children is an issue for you, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Anyway, hope to hear from you…whoever you may be.
