I've lived in Victoria for most of the last 30 years. I like my job, and I'm finally learning how to keep it in perspective with the rest of my life. I do enjoy some solo pursuits like reading (history, non-fiction, and CanLit) and exploring my jazz CD collection. (I especially love the bebop, hard bop and soul jazz of the 1940s - 1960s, as well as stirring non-jazz singers like David Byrne, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison.)

I also have a longtime interest in film and filmmaking, and recently I've started editing my own videos, which is great fun. I've always been interested in photography, and this year I acquired my first digital camera. I've also been scribbling things down for years and am a published writer. I like a glass of wine (or three) and I try to support the BC wine industry. I also really enjoy cooking for other people.

People describe me as smart, articulate, and creative, and enjoy my sense of humour. Those are things I value in other people, too.

I've had arthritis for some years, but it's now being treated successfully. I've had some joint replacements in recent years, and I do use a power chair to get around town and to travel longer distances. Lately, however, I've been walking more and more, using a cane. Hopefully that will help me shed the extra pounds I accumulated during the time I was inactive. I mention this in the spirit of honesty, although I really am becoming more mobile.

Sushi? Tapas? A loaf of bread, a jug of wine?
