Update: (30 Dec. '09) Over the last year I have contacted 231 women, all living within 50 miles of me, and only one bothered to respond. One. (A polite 'No Thanks'). I'm not initiating contact any more. If someone wants to talk to me, they'll have to email me first.

I have also contacted a fair number of women who live either too far away from me to meet, or they live in other states & countries. Of those, all but 1 has responded and I have made a few good friends. I've also had several initiate contact with me.

I wish that I understood the reason for the gross difference.

I have a very dry, sarcastic, sometimes mischievous, and very well developed sense of humor. I easily laugh at myself. Have been known to play practical jokes. Very much the computer nerd. Very well read and have my own library. I'm usually reading 5 books at the same time. If I'm bored I'll read any and everything that isn't red hot or nailed down....especially if I'm not supposed to read it and/or it's on a banned book list somewhere. My favorite book is the Autobiography of Tsar Peter The Great. I have a voracious thirst for knowledge and I'm usually researching something. I have a very eclectic taste in music. I enjoy everything from the Rachmaninoff Vespers to Gregorian Chant to 80's rock to current hits. I tend to avoid Rap and Country music though. I often listen to old time radio shows such as The Shadow, X-1, The Zero Hour, CBS Radio Mystery Theater, Etc. Etc.

I **LOVE** old B&W movies. They have these things called PLOTS and DIALOG. Not some guy yelling "Get Down", followed by 30 minutes of Gunshots, Explosions, Car Chases, The obligatory topless female, and someone saying the catch-phrase of the movie every 5 minutes. Think, "Hasta La Vista", "I'll Be Back", "Show me the money", etc.. No I don't have an opinion on the subject. LOL Current movies I like tend to be sci-fi or quirky/Independant films. 'City of Lost Children' is a good example.

I will try almost anything once or actually maybe twice just to make sure I don't like it...well, maybe a third time just to be sure.

I enjoy fixing and repairing things, especially around the house stuff, and have quite a few tools. I build and repair computers and I've been known to build furniture as well. Sink stopped up? Toilet need replaced? Kitchen Cabinet hinges falling apart? Can do!!

Firm believer in Karma. Be honest, Don't cheat, Do unto others as you would have done unto you and you won't get hit by that train. You might not have guessed this but I can be a bit different (in a good way!.....I think....). The normal people are down the hall and to the right. I swim against the mainstream. I run with Scissors. I void warranties. If it's not broke, it obviously doesn't have enough features.

Perfect moments in time.
- The birth of my son.
- The 1st time he looked at me.
- The 1st time he kissed me on the cheek.
- An ice covered tree back-lit by a street lamp.
- The moment you realize that you have fallen in love with someone.
- The first time I saw Sarah Brightman, in Concert, singing "Deliver me"

What am I looking for? Someone with the same interests. Likes to Cuddle. Is VERY Adventurous and open minded. Witty. Sarcastic. A few lose nuts required. Must be able to converse, debate, and do more than just nod in agreement!

I hate 1st dates. They can be nerve-wrecking. I would start with dinner in a quiet restaurant so we could talk and I could look in your eyes while you speak. If there is a spark, then we would continue the evening. I rarely make plans beyond the dinner for a first date.
