Actually an INTP, to the extent it makes a difference.

I look at life as an adventure; each new day, each new project, each new place I go and person I meet is an exciting opportunity. I revel in the challenges as well as in the simple pleasures, and fully enjoy the humor of it all. I value my companions on the journey and know I'm richer for all the experiences, and the people I meet along the way. Every day is a new, blank page in the book of my life, and I hold the pen; my future is boundless and will be whatever I want it to be. What I most want is a partner with whom to write "our" future, together.

I've learned, the hard way, that a lasting relationship takes commitment and work, selflessness and conscious communication. But if it takes THAT much work, we're probably forcing it. I'd like to find that excitement of new love where I just can't get you off my mind, that grows into an easy and natural relationship where we just fit, and the work of it is mostly in not letting time lead to taking each other and the relationship for granted. I want to find that "us" that is greater than you and me. I'm ready!

How do I find you, when the relationship I seek is not defined by the color of your hair and eyes, your curviness, age, or the price of your clothes; but by the size and contents of your heart. It's how we "fit"...emotionally, intellectually and physically. It's a combination of shared core values, unique perspectives to open each other to broader understandings, a balance of shared and independent interests and activities, and genuine love and desire. It’s not defined by whether we’ll hit a few bumps in the road...we’re bound to...but rather by how we handle them. It's knowing we can deal with any challenge.

It doesn't matter if you're liberal or conservative, as long as you're not too self-righteous or insecure to discuss and consider different points of view, and accept that others can see things differently. It will help if you can be patient with my analytical nature and tendency to get preoccupied, just as I need to appreciate your idiosyncrasies.

When I was single before, if I wasn't working or sleeping, I was on the go. You would find me on the town at a club. party or concert, on a sports field or court, on the water or in the mountains. If it sounded like fun, I was there. Today, with kids, that fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants lifestyle is a memory. I need to (and want to) be present with my kids, spend time and do things with them and show them neat stuff. I need to provide for them. I need to be there when they stumble to see them pick themselves up, and offer encouragement, advice or even a hand when appropriate (stumbles are often the best learning opportunities). I need to be a grown-up because it's not just me who stands to suffer from my irresponsibility; and being more spontaneous than a planner sometimes presents challenges. Even though you know, it's hard to fully appreciate the responsibility, and the magic, of being a parent until you've been here. It seems it would be easier to find love with a woman without children, and to get the flavor again of being able to live for the moment. While scheduling is more complicated with a woman with children, they've been here and understand that kids' dependencies and immediacies do not implicate a lack of love or priority for them...that it's a different kind of love and priority. In the end, I'm still a hopeful romantic who believes that it's the chemistry that counts; and that when it's right, the challenges will be all "small stuff."
