Back from Barcelona, time to update the "profile". Didn't have much time to learn Catalan, just enough to prove that I tried. My hosts queried why would I focus on Catalan: "After all 80% of the people in Barcelona speak Castellano", they would ask. "But, I'm not interested in that 80%" was my reply. So, after knocking over a beer, while making too grand a gesture at the after-party, my expressed regrets -"ho sento" - saved the moment. I've come to learn how much I like the generosity of Catalonians, in particular, and of the mindset of Europeans in general. Oh, but wait, that's still a bit limiting. I also like the mindset of the Asians and Africans, as well. Tis that element of surprise. That new point of view. It takes me outside of my self. I suppose that is the attraction of religion: getting beyond the limits of one's POV. Or science. Or music. Or dance. You name it.

I've forgotten how much I like to travel and hang with brilliant people in another land. The last time was in Amsterdam around a festival on Touch, bringing together jugglers, puppeteers, mathematicians, sound poets, virtual instrumentalists, dancers, and epistemologists. This time around, in Barcelona, it was visual musicians. Who knows what will come next. All that I know is that I'm hooked. So, I'm developing a language to make that happen. To speak with visuals, music, and kinematics, all tossed together in a kind of induced synesthesia.

So, who *am* I looking for? Well, I met several people who come pretty close, in the last week. Tis encouraging: they were all happy in what they were doing and who they were with. Here's what I learned: I'm attracted to a fluidity of intelligence. To flow past the edges of whatever obstacle comes up. To take delight in the surprises. And sometimes, take it new directions.

I'm also up for having kids. Am kid tested and kid approved - though none of my own. But, am not just looking to swim upstream to spawn. Nope; not that kind of fluid intelligence. But, am open to *all* possibilities.
