Recently I heard of an opportunity to win a dream wedding and honeymoon from a radio station. Of course, I thought to myself, “What a great thing to win!,” until it occurred to me that I would have no one to wed even if I did enter the contest and win. This realization immediately prompted the thought that, if I won, I would simply marry myself. Visualizing a fancy wedding where a woman gets married to herself in front of friends and family members at first seemed rather hilarious. However, as the imagined day unfolded in my mind, I begun to think it may well not be a bad idea to pledge undying love and allegiance to oneself. Perhaps we should all do it, and perhaps our vows would go something like this:

I, _____________, take myself as I am to love as I have never been loved. I promise myself that, even when no one else is left, I will love me, and it will be enough. I resolve to accept my faults, as I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. I am human; I must realize that I will let myself down, and I will, at times, let others down. However, I pledge to forgive me and forget my mistakes even when my acquaintances choose otherwise. I refuse to compromise my principles in order to please another person. I pledge to humble myself and to serve others, whether by way of a simple smile or by giving all of my worldly self. I acknowledge that achieving my dreams will only be possible if I tell myself that it is before I decide that I cannot do it. I agree to have faith in myself, my abilities and my decisions because I will think them through before acting upon them. I pledge my spirit, my mind, and my body to never give up on me. Forevermore, I promise to love me.

I am optimistic and seek a relationship with an equally affectionate guy who I find attractive and with whom I share chemistry.

I am looking for a intellectual guy with whom I can have some interesting conversation--that doesn't mean you must have a Ph.D., but it doesn't mean you can't, either. The eventual goal is a close, trusting relationship. I do think looks are important to the point that I need to be attracted to you. (Please don't show me pictures of a sexy you that were taken too many years or pounds ago...) That is not to say that I am extremely picky--only to say that I need to be physically attracted to a guy if anything is ever to come of it. I do prefer the "average" body type.

I like getting out but am most comfortable staying in. I am not, and never will be, a partier... When I meet him, I intend to get to know him really well and develop a close nurturing relationship if he is the right one. Don't worry, I'm not looking for marriage at this point, but I definitely find a close relationship with one guy more satisfying than casually dating several...

I am open to a lot of experiences. I like the outdoors; I especially like time to talk and get to know each other--not sure how possible that is at the movies, etc. where there isn't ample opportunity for talking...
