I consider myself an intelligent, creative, and quirky individual. I have a passion for things both technical and artistic. I can be equally amused coding or painting, studying physics or creating a photograph. I'm a bit of a geek, and while I still can lose myself in a project, I'm very much interested in being a part of life rather than being apart from it. I enjoy cocooning myself away at times, but personal connections are important to me.

I'm finding myself leaning much more towards the soft arts and away from the hard sciences as time goes on. I used to work as a web application programmer, but tech work is no longer my passion. I’d rather have a camera in my hand or be writing.

My music tastes run from new-age to industrial, and my reading is mostly science fiction and self-discovery. I have a passion for offbeat movies like Dark Star (but don’t blame me if you decide to watch it based upon my endorsement).

I like to have my world view “stretched” occasionally, even regularly. I understand that if I don’t like something, I can only say that it is true for this moment only; I may find myself changing my tune down the road. I used to despise Picasso’s work, but now I find it engaging. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I consider Robert A. Wilson's Illuminatus! Trilogy to be a great self-help book, if that means anything. ;)

I became vegetarian 25 years ago, and while I would like to find someone who shares that lifestyle, it isn't a requirement. My motivation is simply "least harm". I don’t preach, protest, or judge. Or at least I do my best not to. Anyone is free to call me on it if I slip.

Are you happy? Do you try to face each new challenge attempting to find something of value in whatever comes your way? Do you know what you are looking for and are you willing to communicate it? I'm not scared of a confident, independent, and intelligent woman. In fact, if you throw in caring, open, and fun, you *really* have my attention!

Teach me about the things that interest you. Challenge me. Get excited over silly, little things and share the wonders that you find. I'm looking for someone who has a passion in life; something they "geek" over, whether it's left brained or right.

I should also mention that I have Multiple Sclerosis. It places limits and challenges on my life, but it doesn't incapacitate me. I recently read a poll that found that 50% of those surveyed thought MS was fatal. It's not. 40% thought it meant being in a wheelchair. I'm not. I guess not as many people watched "The West Wing" as I thought. :P I'll use a cane if I'm going to be on my feet for more than a minute or two, and I'd make a lousy jogging partner, but I get out and about.

I have friends as my "looking for", as for me, that's where it all starts. If we connect and it goes from there, that would be great, but so would making a new friend. I personally don't believe in "the one". It's all about making connections and seeing how people can enhance each other's lives.

Oh, nothing fancy. We're just meeting, after all. I'm very much a friends-first kind of guy. I have to feel a connection before anything frisky happens. Maybe a coffee shop, lunch, or a no-strings dinner at a Thai or Indian restaurant. Someplace where we can just chat and hang out for a bit.
