About Me
I get the "Why are you single" question all the time. Also often times I have ended up being "the friend," which is cool, but in all honesty, I am looking for more. I guess it can get old after a while. I really just can't bring myself to "settle" for someone just for the sake of not being alone. It's no fun being with someone if you're not happy. It is very important to be able to be friends first & then determine if you want more than that. I have made the mistake before of letting myself be pushed too quickly into a relationship. I guess we all have. While being single, I have things in my life that keep me occupied & content. Most importantly some really good friends. Thank goodnes for friends. Some are friends I grew up with. Others are people I have made doing the things I like to do.
I know a lot of people say it, but more than anything, I love to laugh. Not just at stuff that's "supposed to" be funny, like comedians & movies, but at life in general. I think you have to try & find the humor in many situations, otherwise we'd all go crazy. That's not to say that movies & comedians & stuff dont have their place. I love a good comedy.
Another thing I really love is music. Lots of different kinds. From House to Rockabilly. & just about everything in between. I just really love anything that is good. Of course that very subjective. But I have friends that are into the same types of music, so that always makes that experience more enjoyable as well.
I am a guy, so I do like cars. I have a couple old cars I like to tinker with & drive as a hobby. They are in pretty nice shape though, so it's not like driving around in some old junk box. But they do still require work & maintenance, which is fine with me, because I enjoy it. IF you are actually interested, I have lots of pictures. I do, however, realize that most girls are probably NOT going to be interested in my cars. & I fully understand. I did not build them to pick up girls. If that was what I was trying to do, I would get a BMW or something. I built them for ME to enjoy. At the end of it, I really do enjoy driving. I am the guy you will usually find taking the long way home, especially if there is good music on the radio. And as I said, I do have quite a few friends that I have made who share the same interests & will many times come for a drive. Or we will meet up somewhere & just shoot the shit. And the conversation doesn't really have to be about cars, just life in general.
I guess there's a lot to me, but I'm not that complicated. The one thing I love to do most is laugh. I will laugh at almost anything. I am not PC at all, but usually know when to keep my mouth shut.
I like a lot of differet things that seem to clash with one another. I drive a Lowrider, but hate modern Hip Hop. I like House music, but I also like Rockabilly. I like old cars, but dont really care for muscle cars, or '57 Chevy's. I dont like being single, but have been forever. Mostly because I refuse to "Settle" for someone, just for the sake of having someone.. I am a picky eater, but like simple foods. I dont go by what "the norm" says I should be, but I cant stand people who try to be "different" just to get attention... You're not. I HATE MTV & the whole "MTV Genetation." When the heck did it become "cool" to be ghetto. If thats where you grew up (Which I did, but knew enough not to get caught up in it) & it's what you know, thats one thing. But people trying to be or stay 'ghetto' just because thats what's "in style" are just plain ignorant in my opinion. Thats not to say there aren't dome d*mn cool people in some of the shittiest neighborhoods. I know a bunch of them, & they're cool. I can't stand ignorance. & I hate people making excuses for other people's lazyness. Enough ranting. I'm also really into EARLY 60's retro stuff ( Surfer, so-cal style) I'm just my own person.
I do have a good job & can take care of myself. In the near future, I would like to start my own business. Hopefully, I will be able to get that ball rolling once I get my house sold. Until then, the Mon - fri thing is working out just fine.
Wow, I am getting really long winded on this one, but in general, I am definitely looking for long term relationship. But I will NOT rush myself into one. The whole dating scene can get old after a while, but I am a firm believer that there is someone out there for everyone. & Sooner or later, hopefully, we will all find that person.
First Date
Well I think it would differ depending on what you like to do. Some people like to go to the opera, others like to go to a monster truck rally. But I guess for a generic answer I would say I would like to go somewhere kinda nice to eat. Hopefully somewhere where it's not too loud so we could talk & try to get to know each other. Then maybe go for a walk or something afterwards (I LOVE downtown Boston) for some more chit chatting. who knows. It's really a hard question to answer when you think about it because ideal dates are definately not the same for everyone.
