I moved to Grande Prairie in 1993 from Newfoundland, yes I am a Newfie. I am a oilfield supervisior with a major oilpatch service company. I have been with this company for 15 years and still enjoy the job that I do. I get to travel to different places in Alberta and British Columbia. I have a schedual of 15 days on work and 6 days off. I have two kids that stay with me when I am on my days off and they are great kids. I like to go for walks at the Wapiti Nordic Center (ski trails) because it is quiet and very relaxing. I try and workout every day that I can (half hour of running and then weights) and over the last year I have lost a total of 150 lbs so far. I was 400 lbs and now I am down to 250 lbs and feeling great. I hope that this will maybe help people to acheive their own goal. My goal is to have a 6 pack stomach before I turn 40 and I know that I will do it. Next spring (2010) after the snow has melted another goal of mine is to climb Mount Hammel in Grande Cache. It will be about a 30 km hike but with daily exercising over the winter I know that I will be able to do it. I also want to travel more (hit Mexico again it was great).
