...and when you find the man who is, he'll never make you cry.

After spending many years roaming the world in search of adventure I have returned to find almost all of my friends are now coupled off or married and working on their 2.2 kids so it seems the only nice genuine women I meet are already partnered up.

So here I am hoping to meet and get to know new and interesting women, and perhaps that special someone who cares about me as much as I care about her.

…and if you're just looking to meet somebody new or have a chat, that's fine with me too.

Now about me...

People I know seem to think I look younger than my 35 years. My friends say I have a very mischievous and irreverent sense of humour. I love to laugh (especially at myself) and I’m not easy to offend.

I believe in honesty, integrity, compassion, ethics, and strong values. I was raised Catholic but I am not a religious person and lean more toward agnosticism. I prefer to let my own moral code and values dictate how I lead my life. Being a good person is important to me.

I am a bit softhearted, quite liberal minded and I always try to do my bit to make the world a better place. I'm not always known for my tact, but I try to be polite to those who do not know me well. I try not to be judgmental, but I have a hard time dealing with bigotry, sexism, and homophobia.

Being from a very large family I love being around kids and have lots of nieces and nephews who brighten my world.

I enjoy going out but I’m not really into the club scene. I would much rather have the occasional quiet drink with family or friends at home or at a nice bar or restaurant than have drunk chicks puke all over me at a club. Live acts are something I really enjoy.

Travel has always been a passion and I have been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively, both around Australia and the world. I have been through most of Europe, Asia, North and South America and a couple of places in Africa (Morocco and Egypt). My favourite adventure was probably hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru.


My Interests:

Music is a huge part of my life and I could not live without it. My music collection is very eclectic to say the least, with genres from classical to hard rock/heavy metal, though I do have a preference toward the heavier stuff.

I really enjoy going to see live acts and though I can't dance I would love to learn with the right lady. I think the fun and laughter would be well worth it.

I love reading a good book. Wherever I am a book can usually be found close by. I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, thrillers, historical and biographies.

I love going to the cinema. My favourite movies tend to be comedy, especially British comedy, or other genres with a good comedy element to them. I love movies that are irreverent with intelligent and quirky dialogue, though I am not adverse to sitting back and leaving my brain at the door while watching something silly. As long as it is not totally dumb. Like most guys I also enjoy a good action or adventure flick but I will also quite happily sit through a chick flick. Just don't tell my friends! ;) I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith, the Coen brothers and Judd Apatow.

…for those quiet nights at home I also have an extensive DVD collection to watch while snuggling on the couch with that special someone. I am up-to-date on kid’s movies as well.

I don’t really get to watch much TV but my favourite TV shows are Boston Legal, CSI, 24 and Firefly.

I was very athletically inclined when I was younger; I tried almost every sport you can think of. Surprisingly, I was very good at American football and I even had a scholarship to play for a college in the USA before a knee injury put an end to those dreams.

I have always had a strong interest in history so I enjoy going to museums and galleries.

I also love the outdoors, exploring new and interesting places and trying new things. The ocean is my favourite playground.

I think that about covers it. To be honest I'm not really big on selling myself (which I know is kind of ironic considering how long winded this profile is) but I think I have added enough information for you to get a rough idea of whether or not we have things in common. Just to clarify... 'A few extra pounds' for me is pretty much that, I'm actually pretty average in weight and size, I'm just a bit soggy around the middle if you know what I mean! Too much time behind a desk and not enough time out having fun and keeping active hasn't done me any favours, but I am working on it... Regardless, I am 'comfortable in my own skin' as they say, but I am always open to some self improvement if I notice something I think needs to change. :)

Lastly... when it comes to friends and relationships, to me the special people in your life are the ones who "get" you, neither of you are trying to be someone else or only showing your best side. You are just you and they get you and you get them. Rare perhaps, but it is something that is important to me. What you see is what you get.

We could do something casual...

Movies are great but not really a good way to get to know someone on a first date, unless it's dinner and a movie.

A walk through the Botanical Gardens or Darling Harbour on a beautiful day is nice. Just to enjoy each others company and get to know one another in a stress free environment. With the option of a coffee or a quiet drink afterward.

There is always the aquarium, the zoo, a museum or gallery. We live in a beautiful city that offers many opportunities for adventure. I am sure we can find something fun to do!
