About Me
Updated April 24, 2009
In my spare time I like to cook 7 course dinner parties that last till midnight, drink red wine at swanky-loungy-grungy places (obviously not swanky and grungy at the same time), travel of all styles, and have low resistance for good sushi. I like to talk about politics, religion and all sorts of topics polite girls aren't supposed to broach.
I adhere to 80-20% local food consumption, being doing it for 2 years and have (thankfully) grown my repitoire of recipes to fend off boredom while avoiding scurvy in the winter. I just bought a share for this year's produce crop through Community Supported Agriculture. I thought I'd share this just to give you an idea of my ethics/politics, but I still coexist well with those who have different ideas.
I tend to avoid sports that require protective gear more than a helmet and involve really steep hills or high places. I am more of a yoga, cycling, hiking, running kind of a girl, although I do aspire to inline skate one day and have all the gear. After trying it again this past winter, I still like snow shoeing, and think I like cross country skiing, but am not sure since I haven't actually done it since I was a kid. I am currently training for the Medoc Marathon (if you don't know this one, look it up, it will tell you much about my personality).
I am a visual artist and researcher. My work mostly takes the form of installations and interventions, and I spend a lot of time in my studio. I go to art openings, sometimes for fun, and sometimes not. I also frequent lectures on art, philosophy and social issues.
I was born and raised in Vancouver but have lived and worked/schooled in Lyon, London (both Ontario and UK), Regina, Halifax, Toronto, Stratford. And some would say I have traveled extensively, even though there are still untouched continents I am hoping to get to. My next big trip includes the Venice Bienale followed by a week in Bordeaux for the Medoc Marathon. South America and Asia are definitely next, it's just a matter of deciding where exactly...
