So I'm supposed to write about the things I like and tell you what makes me unique. Well, what makes me unique are the things I like and what makes me happy, and more specifically how diverse they are. OK, so I'm an educated guy so I like good, intelligent conversation and some geeky stuff like science and classical music but I love my sports and my rock n' roll just as much. Surprise fact #1: I was in a hard rock band for many years and I would love to get back into one. I love good wine but you can't beat a cold beer at a hockey game! Anyway, formal education is fine but what's more important is what you learn from life, and from yourself as you deal with it.

I'm a pretty laid-back guy and nothing upsets me all that much, and I don't get angry. I'm happy with my own company and I love just being outside on a nice day and reading a good book. However, I'm also a people-person and I love to learn about people and find out what makes them tick. Surprise fact #2: I love public speaking, the more people the better. I'm not boisterous but I love to talk and I am completely open with my feelings and thoughts. I'm a deep person but I can be completely silly, and love going out for a drink and having a good time. Because I am thoughtful and sometimes quiet, as well as being a gentleman, people often just see the "nice guy" part of me, but I have my passions and am very affectionate and romantic. Surprise fact #3: I'm a first-class hugger! ;)

One thing you should know about me is that I love teaching and helping people and I'm a good listener, and many of my friends count on me for advice and ideas. I'm a perceptive person and I have lived enough to understand the things that people have gone through. I know, I should have been a counselor, but don't worry, I'm not just a thinker. I play sports and am an active person, though I also love my quiet times. For me it's all about balance and I find that by living in the moment and making the best of the experiences that come my way.

So what am I doing on here? I'm very happy with my life now, though a new job would be nice, but I've gotten to the point where I want to share my experiences with someone and find that ideal balance in life. I tried the marriage thing and that didn't quite work out and I've been divorced for three years now. I'm better off for all that's happened and I know myself much better now and what I need in life. It took a while but with some introspection, and a lot of living, I am ready to meet someone special and kick this second half of life into high gear. I don't have kids (though I love them) so I'm pretty flexible and ready for whatever opportunities present themselves.

So that's me. I'll be honest and tell you that it's been hard to meet compatible people because I am not like most guys and really that's fine by me. I couldn't care less for hunting or watching cars race around a circle and I don't have a baseball hat that says John Deere on it. There's nothing wrong with all that but it's not me. Hey, I'm no angel and I have my quirks but I'm a good guy who wants nothing more than finding that special someone who has that magical combination of intelligence, kindness and grace and who can put up with someone who is a bit of a perfectionist. Didn't see any typos did ya? ;)

Life is good, and will only get better! :)

It depends on the person but just meeting for tea is always nice. The key thing is there has to be good conversation since that's how you really learn about someone. That takes time but I believe you build a strong friendship first and then take it from there. If things work then all meetings after that feel as exciting as a first date!
