I'm new to online dating so I don't know where to begin describing myself or what to expect from this experience, but writing this description has been a challenge. Where should I begin? Well, I'm 37 years old and live with my parents... just joking!

How does one avoid writing banalities like, "I enjoy watching movies and going for coffee with my friends." Who doesn't? I was also tempted to write, "I am a friendly and down to earth person," because that's true.

My family and closest friends live in Winnipeg, which is where I lived most of my life. I moved to Vancouver in August of 2008 for a government position. And now I'm interested in meeting someone who would like to go out for dinner, coffee, drinks, movies, etc., someone who would also enjoy showing me her favourite places.

I'm not into the party scene anymore. In my early twenties I was a bartender in a busy nightclub, but now I prefer the quieter atmosphere of a pub or coffee shop.

Outside of work, I spend much of my time working out at the gym, meeting friends and co-workers for coffee/drinks, shopping and reading. Most of all, I enjoy getting to know people and working to improve myself.

I can't think of anything else to write about myself at the moment, but please feel free to ask questions.

On the first date I would just like to keep it simple: we would go for coffee or drinks so that we can get to know each other a little and then decide where we want to go from there.
