Okay, cramming everything there is to tell about myself in one
paragraph... sounds easy enough. I'm fairly one-dimensional. Kidding.
Likes? I'm a pretty creative person, so I love to write (primarily
scripts/screenplays), watch movies (all kinds, all genres), go to art
exhibits (though, after having the opportunity to visit museums in
Europe, I'm kinda spoiled now), listen to music (mostly indy stuff that
apparently I'm the only fan of), etc. I enjoy traveling and definitely
want to do more of that once I'm finished taking my actuarial exams
(hope to be finished with those in the next 6-12 months). I got
certified in scuba diving years ago and also took up snowboarding (have
only been a couple times, so I still suck at it), and would love an
excuse to do more of that. I enjoy trying all different kinds of food,
although I have to admit I'm not a fan of chopped onions (pretty high
maintenance, right?). Staying fit is also pretty important to me. I
exercise fairly regularly and eat well "most" of the time.
You'll see that I am a single dad. I know that does scare some people
away, so please feel free to run if you're one of those people. For
those that aren't, it's actually a really good, positive situation (I
know that, for a lot of single parents, it can be a huge source of drama
and turmoil). I have an amazing, adorable, fun 3 1/2 year old girl that
I love more than anything in this world. Her mother and I get along
great as friends and have a good arrangement going.
I'm giving this a try, because it would be nice to get out and meet some
fun people. And I am open-minded about the possibility of meeting
someone special and developing a long-term relationship with that person
if I should happen to find that on this site. I'd love to meet someone
intelligent, down-to-earth, ambitious, open-minded, and fun. I'd love
that person's sense of humor (and, preferably, they would love mine as
well), and there would be a strong spiritual and physical chemistry
between us. She would not be taller than me (I don't wear no platform
shoes for no one!) and would lean more towards the liberal side on
things (hardcore conservatives and republicans would probably want to
hunt me down and come after me with a grenade launcher once they got to
know me). Over the years, I have learned that one of the most important
things in a relationship is chemistry. You can meet someone that's
absolutely perfect on paper, someone that you really wish you "could"
fall madly in love with, but there's just no spark there that compels
you to take the relationship to the next level.

What would I do on a first date? Loaded question. Honestly, I think
anyone who says they'd go all out for a first date with someone (go to
the 5-star restaurant, go for a long walk in the moonlight, rent the
horse and everything else), that's a little overboard when you probably
won't even know until halfway through the date whether or not the two of
you will feel any kind of spark. And, even then, I've been on a few
dates where I thought everything went great, only to never hear from the
person again (maybe I shouldn't always wear see-through mesh on my first
dates...). To me, an ideal first date would be one where you meet up
for a drink or a bite to eat, and you end up losing all track of time
because you're having such a great time around each other. The evening
gradually becomes more romantic as you both realize how much you're
enjoying the each other's company. A great first date all just depends
on the connection you're feeling with someone. You can have a terrible
first date with someone for whom you've planned out this extravagant
night, and you can have an amazing first date with someone you meet up
with at a coffee shop. Then, once you realize you have met someone
special, THEN you go all out on dates like a crazy person.
