I'm an east coast transplant, having finished graduate school from a top 5 school in my field, i.e. education was like drinking water from a fire hose. I enjoy reading and learning new things, and being aware about a range of topics. My current tome is Essays in Persuasion, by JM Keynes.

Sports comes to me easily (however, it doesn't translate to dancing ability), and enjoy being physically active. I regularly commute to work on my road bicycle, and take it on long weekend rides, including a memorable night-time ride from SJ to SF, finishing in time to see the sunrise from the city.

I enjoy cooking on my own (despite a few kitchen catastrophes), and love sampling different cuisines, thanks to the diversity in the bay area. Not being a vegetarian broadens my horizons considerably.

As a person I'm practical, and financially prudent, but am not a penny pincher. However, as a guy, I am a terrible shopper - especially at malls - and unless I have a list with me in advance I can be rather indecisive as to what to get.

I love travelling, and am one of those few people who looks forward to long airplane rides even in coach, just as long as I have my favourite window seat! I hope to go on another road trip soon, perhaps up the Pac NW coast. My most memorable drive was one from Chicago to Boston over 3 days in winter, with some stunning scenery en route, and some white knuckle moments on slippery roads!

My adventures since end of summer:
* Rode the NorCal MS150 charity bike ride
* Two trips across the pacific, to India, HK and Macau.

Someplace public but quiet & mellow enough is nice. Hearing and liking each other's normal voices and tones is underappreciated, since that's what a person gets to experience often if things click!
