I have goals and ambitions and I am working to achieve them. I look for the same thing in my friends. Your career isn't everything but it does tell me something about you as a person. If you take your job serious then you are likely to take your personal life serious as well.

I think that depends on the people involved and their common interests. But coffee or dinner are always a great because they're a neutral environment and lets you get to know one another.
