About Me
Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Yes, I am a God-fearing saint and proud of it! I know that I am saved and I know that if I died today I would be in Heaven with the Lord. However, there are times that I find myself struggling to be all that God wants me to be, but don't we all? I am definitely not a perfectionist, though I am passionate about growing in my daily walk with Christ. And yes, I have come a long way in my relationship with Christ since becoming a Christian more than 12 years ago. :-)
I am seeking a kind-hearted, gentle Christian woman who would never betray her faith or those that she loves even if it meant losing everything she has. Personally, if it came down to it, I would lay down my life for the woman I love and I would expect nothing less from her. I am NOT seeking a partner who is morally perfect (none of us are); indeed, I have my own little quirks (imperfections) that make me human. Nevertheless, I am seeking a soulmate who will challenge me to grow spiritually stronger in my walk with the Lord; I, of course, will help her do the same. :-)
Through some amazing grace of God, I've never really felt the temptation of smoking, alcohol or drugs. Although I find the idea very distasteful, I will tolerate being in a relationship with a woman who drinks no more than a few times a year, but never actually gets drunk. I happen to know people who occasionally try to coax me into having a drink or cigarette/cigar or whatever with them...I always tell them no, but I wish by now it was obvious enough that they woudn't ask. With that said, I have already made up my mind to stay smoke, alcohol and drug free from here to eternity! :-)
I am not exactly what you would call a party person; I generally stay away from parties, except for kid's birthday parties, weddings, holiday celebrations, and the Super Bowl, etc., so long as the party atmosphere is in good taste. I love to sing! You should know that I have a beautiful 2nd Tenor singing voice and I actively make use of this talent to glorify God in church. The use of music, movies and video games is a great way for me to unwind and destress, however, these must also be in good taste. Sightseeing vacations are great fun, but if all else fails, let's go to the beach! ;-)
You know that famous preacher guy named Joshua Harris? Yeah, the guy that wrote the books, "I Kissed Dating Goodbye", "Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello To Courtship", and "Sex is not the Problem, Lust is." I like him, a lot, especially when he starts to preach about God's perfect plan for pre-marital relationships, married life, and raising children. I respect Josh in more ways than one, and I agree with him 100% that a man and a woman should wait until marriage before exploring any kind of physical intimacy in their relationship. :-)
I see a relationship as a journey...while it may take some detours or unexpected turns, it needs direction and a commitment to good, prompt communication to succeed.
First Date
To sum it up, just "keep it simple, stupid." HERE ARE THE RULES: WE MEET IN A PUBLIC PLACE!!! and NO PHYSICAL AFFECTION ON A FIRST DATE, PERIOD, EXCEPT MAYBE HOLDING HANDS!!! Okay, that's it as far as the rules go. How does a lunch date sound? Nothing too fancy and expensive, of course, but nothing too casual either (fast food=no-no). After all, it's only a first date. Why overdo it? How about Italian? Italian would be my favorite. Do you like Chinese? So do I! Please, no Mexican food; I don't like spicy food. We could end the date here, or OPTIONALLY: (1) Go see a movie. Nothing with too much violence, sex, nudity and language in it, please. I usually will not watch anything R-Rated and above unless it has religious or historical significance, (i.e. "The Passion of the Christ") Would you like to sit and watch a romantic comedy? That's fine by me, but I won't go without a date; or (2) Go shopping. Again, nothing too expensive or fancy (money just doesn't grow on trees). A computer or consumer electronics store such as Radio Shack or Best Buy would really get my attention; or (3) Find someplace quiet and simple where we can just go for a walk, talk, and enjoy nature. The Nashville Zoo, maybe? Or how about someplace free like Edwin Warner Park? -- It's your choice, but if you have trouble deciding and you'd rather have me make a decision, just ask and I will do that. Cheers to a great first date!
