About Me
Through high school and college, I worked with children for 8 years, teaching art classes, literacy, health and fitness. Since then I have switched fields and have been taking some time off before grad. school---to focus on my career, though mostly because working 40 hours on top going to full time is freaking exhausting.
When I'm not at work or loving the fact that I can once again get between 6-8 hours of sleep, I try and juggle spending time with friends and family, writing (fiction, mostly short stories, though I have two novels in stalled progress), reading, studying for the LSATs, working out, playing video games, and taking naps.
About half a year ago I got out of a long, serious relationship that ended with a painful breakup. This has spurred me to devote a lot of time re-developing myself, concentrating on my interests, career ambitions, and taking steps toward the goals I have in life, as well as strengthening my friendships both within and outside of my family. So with all this wonderful and selfish me-time, on top of everything else, I really haven't had time to meet anybody new. This really doesn't bother me at all. But if I did meet somebody who struck me with lightning, I could certainly make time for her and keep my individual priorities as well.
So, my old roommate suggested I make up a profile on this site, and here I am.
There are a couple of attributes I respect and look for in someone: 1)Trust and faithfulness---I've been cheated more than a few times. Most of which were in college and partially due to alcohol. I forgave the first time, but when it happened again, had to break it off because it was a recurring knife to the heart. Cheating sober is so, so much worse. I am willing to forgive all things in time, but if it happens more than once, it comes down to what's best and healthiest for me ... So, cheating is a deal-breaker for me. I don't give up easily, but it's an issue of respect. Infidelity has and will disintegrate all trust and attraction I have for a person.
2) Intelligence---I don't care if you're finishing your doctorate or stopped your education after high school. Anyone can be intelligent. I want someone I can talk with, trade books, and mostly someone who is sharp & witty enough to call me out on all my shht.
3)Support---What I mean by that is I want someone who accepts and encourages my interests and aspirations. I do not mean support monetarily. I can support myself, and would never allow someone to try and financially care for me. And this is a two-way street.
Those three qualities I have found extremely hard to come by, and probably because I haven't been looking in the right places: (that means if you're a model, college cheerleader, or trust fund brat, from the start you'll have a lot going against ya).
If you are still reading, and we share some of the above things in common, then write me. My name's Christian, and I am confident, assertive, but am a very nice guy. I may not be willing, free or daring enough to make the first move, but if there's a mutual connection, I will make the next several then ;o)
And if what I've written above doesn't match up completely with your interests, ethics, or views, but you're attracted or intrigued ANYWAY: then go ahead and message me ANYWAY. I strive at all times to have a mind that is always open.
**Okay, on to stock profile questions 2, 3, and 4**
My goals in life?---Hmmm ... To be a published author. To travel the world on a backpack budget. To someday be an awesome husband and father.
Number 3 says "Talk about yourself and what makes you unique." Well, I'll keep this sweet and brief---I'm unlike anyone you'll ever meet.
As for music, I like all genres ... and tolerate country. My alarm station is set to NPR because I strive to be politically, economically and culturally up to date, but the bands I listen to range from Simon Garfunkle to Death Cab. I have a wide knowledge of music, and I think, good taste.
First Date
Dinner and a movie is cliche and all, but hey, I'd say let's start with dinner. Or drinks. If that goes well, then we can be spontaneous.
Scrits has 2 roses that can be sent.
