About Me
The difference between birds and their wings, and the wings of the aspirations of intelligent men, is that birds fly on their wings towards a certain direction, whereas intelligent men fly on the wings of their aspirations away from all directions. Rumi I have great interest in 'healing' the mind, body & spirit. I have worked with a teacher who has written many books and runs an international school headquartered in Switzerland regarding how one can be 'healed' as it relates to the esoteric teachings of Rumi, Ibn Arabi & Gurdjeiff. Here's a few things about me: I've been involved in an entreprenurial venture for approximately 5 years now. We are a manufacturer of fine jewelry and also footwear. We have designed and patented a locking mechanism that has a quick release so that it enables jewelry to be worn on ladies footwear as well as other jewelry accessories interchangeably. We now have several distributorships including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea and Japan. I enjoy reading about some of the great literary people of the past: T.S. Eliot, Hawthorne, Toklas, Stein, Emerson, Thoreau, etc. I also enjoy some kinds of poetry especially the more esoteric venue. Such as: T.S. Eliot, Rumi, Ibn Arabi, Yunis Emre, Rainer Rilke etc. Plus, I enjoy reading biographies of great people in history such as Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, Peter the Great of Russia,Andrew Jackson, Sir Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw, etc. I am most facsinated with Thomas Jefferson because of his progressive and crtical/free thinking and wide and eclectic interests.
I am very althletic and work-out at least twice a week for 2 hours. I love to play tennis, shoot hoops, run and go on long hikes in the mountains.
I love words and language and engage in crossword puzzles on daily basis, play scrabble whenever I have the opportunity, enjoy in depth conversations on most any subject. Its important I think, at least to me, that in understanding our relationship with others, microcosm, and the universe, macrocosm, one must get the words that express our understanding exactly right, for oneself, to begin to come to 'knowledge'.
I believe that a close relationship with a woman is sacred and engenders the 'polished mirror' in which we can travel 'inwardly' such that we may observe the many secrets of the universe (heart). And of course this 'inward journey' must be tempered with the joys and frivolities of this world - wit, humor, sensuality, playfulness, delightful cuisine, music, literature, good wine, good friends, and begin to fill the senses, the mind, the soul, and the heart with 'true substance' (such as the honey bee collects sweet nectar for the hive). P.S. Here's an excerpt of a poem by T.S. Eliot: The Little Gidding
(Excerpt)
With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this Calling
We shall not cease! from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, unremembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.
Quick now, here, now, always-
A condition of complete simplicity
(Costing not less than everything)
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flames are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.
T.S. Eliot
