Um, hello there,

one request before I launch into it: If you choose to add me as a favorite, please contact me. Great, I've gained favor, but at least give me the chance to decide whether I agree with your choice. But, for crying out loud - don't just lurk in a corner!!!! Who knows, maybe I'd find a connection, but you'll never know by treating me like a tagged mongoose - great for observation & notes, and the occasional 'mongoose joke', but little else. (note: I will be impressed &/or frightened if you actually know a good mongoose joke)... (****UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who has shared the 'drunk imaginary' mongoose & 'zoo, pluralization' mongoose jokes - any other ones out there????)
Thanks!!! & now back to our regularly scheduled profile:
I don't often go out on a limb & email people, so, be a pal & reply - you never know what could come of it. I contacted you for a reason - some perceived connection. Find out if it's valid!
On the other hand - please DO NOT contact me if you are not single and your profile says otherwise. If you have a girlfriend YOU ARE NOT SINGLE. If you are seeing someone YOU ARE NOT SINGLE. If you are "in the process" of divorcing or separating YOU ARE NOT SINGLE. In fact, save yourself some trouble & change your frickin' profile!
I am horrible at editing, so as I think of more things, this section will just get longer, NOT more concise.
I'm an intelligent, creative, hard-working, caring, and sometimes silly kid-at-heart. I've traveled to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, England & Scotland, as well as a few places in the U.S. - & that's only the beginning. In this life I'd like to learn & see as much as possible. I am a sometimes-compulsive library book borrower, taking home as many as 25 books on different topics at one time. Nature photography is a hobby, and gives me a sense of peace & a bit of exercise. I dabble in art, music & writing as well, and have a very vivid, & somewhat twisted, imagination.
10-24-09 I finally chose a Nikon D90 dSLR camera. Of course I can't afford it & it all cost twice what I'd hoped. But maybe I'll develop into an actual 'photographer'. However, being part-weenie, it is still sitting in the box... where the dreams of possible greatness and profitability aren't quashed by the reality that I have NO EXPERIENCE with these types of cameras or too much post-production beyond the simplest tasks... haha, let the good times roll!
A bit of an introverted homebody, this is a way to ease myself into the social scene. *****Let me repeat myself - I am EASING MYSELF into the scene. No, I am not interested in meeting someone I've chatted with once or twice - maybe not even after 20!!!! Let me go at my own pace, & we'll have unstrained, pleasant dialogue.****** It can take a bit for me to become comfortable with people, but when I am, I am extremely loyal & will do virtually anything for those I care about. Sometimes sarcastic, sometimes funny, always valuing what is true & right, I am definitely not your stereotypical female.
RANDOM NOTE: Has anyone had luck with 'chemistry matches'? I find that the people I seem most compatible with either rank low, or they don't show up on the pages at all!!! What makes it more confusing is that often they have the exact same traits listed on their profile page's chemistry!
Crazy, man, crazy!
Although I am more apt to stay in and watch a movie, I have participated in some extreme adventures. During my time 'Down Under', I did a tandem skydive, white water rafting & 3 different bungee jumps, among other activities. I love to try new foods, and am quite the concoction queen. I tend to inhale my food, usually in copious amounts, and have been known to do a happy dance whilst eating something particularly yummy. I love cheese - in food, movies & life. I think shrimp chips are the yummiest styrofoam-like product ever!!!!!
I am a child of the 80s & will occasionally play my Atari or NES for fun. Also own a working 8-track player, not currently hooked up to speakers. I sometimes attempt to play guitar (poorly) along with my fave music. I've seen well over 700 movies & have totally useless knowledge/memory of most all of them. I think today's cartoons are craptastic, and long for REAL Saturday morning entertainment & Sunday's Cartoon express. Also lacking are the prizes in cereal boxes - who DIDN'T love the 'wall walker' - good for about 50 throws until it got too dirty to work anymore.
Although I am not a 'shoestore whore' - I do have an affinity for colored sneakers. My most recent (re)discovery - Kangaroos! LOVE EM!!!!
I have a weird compulsion to save the fortunes in chinese fortune cookies & have them pasted on file folder flaps. Nope, I have no idea why. I also have a completely tattered sweatshirt that's at least 14 years old...again, no idea why I haven't burned it. Oh, & I still have my junior high gymshorts. Those, however, are on their way out... There's hope for me yet!!!!
I'll probably sport pigtails from time to time until the day I die.
I thank green lights & signs welcoming me to another city or state. Hey, they were polite enough to welcome, a simple thank you is the least one can say!!!
I always pick up orphaned coins on the ground, much to others' embarrassment - hey, I had something like $200 in change I cashed in before my Australia trip!!!! Oh, & I call them 'foundlings'...
HOORAY FOR YOUTUBE!!!! I really enjoy finding random, forgotten examples of the cheese I grew up with - like this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXOa-WE0l2M
My musical interests mainly lie in the Rock & New Wave lines. Some of my favorite groups include: anything with the Finn Brothers (Crowded House, Split Enz...), Squeeze, The Beatles, The Monkees, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Cyndi Lauper, 3 Dog Night, Chicago, early REM, Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds Five, Counting Crows, Weird Al Yankovic, Aerosmith, Jason Mraz, Guster, Howie Day, Josh Kelley & Dr. Hook.
I'm looking for people to communicate with. However, I tend to be phone phobic, as awkard pauses scare the bejeezus out of me (as do android people wearing bluetooth headsets).I'd eventually like to find a caring, intelligent, honest, responsible & fun guy who can keep up with my quirky mind. Someone who will be an equal partner, neither control freak nor pushover. Preferably a non-smoker as cigarettes (and strong scents in general) can make me ill.
If this sounds like you, or you'd just like someone to chat with, feel free to send me a message.
By the by, pet names from strangers (& being called "sexy" or "hot mama") are creepy, fellas. My mom once had a t-shirt that sums up my feeling on this: "Men who call women sweetie,
