I've listed myself as looking for long-term relationship and that is true but I truly feel that friendship should come first and be the foundation of a long-term romantic relationship. So, having said that, if all I ever get from this site is a good friend or two, it will have been worth the effort. :)

Here are some of my opinions/beliefs/desires concerning a long-term relationship:

Above all, the woman I'm looking for must love kids. My kids are the MOST important people in my life.

I believe it is important to be patient and supportive as you figure out your needs rather than rush into a relationship prematurely.

I believe in loyalty, honesty, trust, mutual respect, openness and lots of sharing. Without these the relationship breaks down.

I enjoy a lot of physical contact like hugs, snuggling, tickling, shoulder rubs, a caress on the arm.

The type of woman I am looking for would be intelligent but simple, honest but not cruel, classy but not prissy, have good morals but not be a prude, gentle but not weak, confident but not arrogant, open-minded but not passive.

Oh, and I like a woman who can just slip on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a baseball cap (read tomboyish) and be comfortable with herself and the way she looks. I don't have a problem with girlie-girls, but if you need more than half an hour in front of a mirror to feel better about yourself, you are probably not my type. It's all about self-confidence ladies.

Also, if you can hold your own and not be offended by my strange sense of humor, sarcasm, and smart-ass remarks, you'll have a leg up (maybe two) on the rest of the pack.

The first date thing is so intimidating. It would have to be something that makes both participants comfortable. Maybe something like a casual lunch. Thanks to sites like these I think it's easier to get to know someone and start a friendship before moving on to the date stage.
