I love the small details and take great comfort in simple pleasures (I think that has a lot to do with where my folks are from and their experiences). I can be sarcastic and I can definately laugh at myself. I value a sense of humor a great deal. I am not easily bored and am quite capable of staying put at home cooking, writing or playing guitar...and still find time to meet up for a drink and hang out at a dive bar listening to a good juke box and shooting some pool.

I can be very quiet and introspective, but I also have a side of me which is attracted to the absurd, the bohemian, the cheesy, the night owl life (i. e. I can talk about Francois Villon, how to prepare a Ramos Gin Fizz and 1970's Italian zombie shlock movies at the same time while looking through the wine list). On that note, I also have an unhealthy knowledge of sports and really bad movies.

I like to dance (but I could be a LOT better at it) and I am addicted to music (I'm trying to learn the accordion. I only play guitar at the moment and can play "Mary had a Little Lamb" on the violin. Pretty good, huh?). I listen to everything from Billie Holiday to the Small Faces, from Atahualpa Yupanqui to Bauhaus, Joy Division, Les Negresses Vertes and Def Leppard (I grew up in the 80s, ok?). I'd like to learn to sing a little better and brew a beer other than a pale ale. I am pretty fascinated by the imagination of a child (my neice and nephew mean the world to me), a good story, a late night conversation over some good coffee or tea, a good song.

I'm a librarian. I was a chef for a few years before that. I enjoy learning new things and approaching life with a willingness to change or explore opportunities. I know what I want and what I like, but I also know there is a lot to learn about life and the world around me. I like someone who is a good conversationalist, someone who is drawn to the arts, likes to travel and someone who likes food.

I always felt I would like to be with someone who could be a partner, who I could try out new things with, build a swanky home with. Someone who could push the envelope with me, and (especially) laugh with. To be honest, I find this a cool way to meet new people and find nothing weird or awkward about that. I am also obviously in love with the parentheses.

As far as who I am looking for, I think a good beginning would be someone who has a good sense of self-awareness, confidence, honesty, values family and who has a genuine curiosity about the world we live in. Someone who knows what they want and who knows how to express what is in their heart. Someone who likes to throw killer dinner parties would be cool too.

I could be honest and say that I am perfectly fine with sitting on a beach and playing guns n roses or smiths songs on the guitar, but I'd be just as cool with meeting for some coffee at first, maybe take a walk somewhere where there's a nice big mix of people, a nice vibe).
