About Me
I'd like to think that as people we should try to leave the world a little better off for having been here. and I'd also like to believe that none of us are as simplistic as these profiles seem to paint us.
I like art museums, kayaking, gallery openings, nanotechnology, stone sculpting, dancing, behavioral economics, open air bars and collaborative cooking. I’ve traveled a lot (a few years and a few dozen countries), but lately I find it hard to want to leave New York. Even when I stay in, the fact that there is so much going on around me, makes me glad to be here.
I like language and playing with languages. I speak English, Spanish and Italian fluently, a little French and Portuguese. I'm interested in the arts, even if its just the art of good conversation. I write and sculpt at times, but these days I spend my time looking at the NYC region's energy infrastructure from the point of view of terrorist attacks and natural disasters. It is my job to find ways to prevent harm, build resilience into the network and organize emergency response. It makes for interesting projects and I'm using it as a route towards clean energy entrepreneurship.
I think it is important to be idealistic, but grounded. I have a dry sense of humor, not to be mistaken for seriousness. And I like to be challenged by life and by the people with whom I share mine.
I hope to hear from you if you're interested in randomness, multilingual conversations, obscure films (Chris Marker?), bizarrely layered connections or running the gamut between drunkenness and meditation. If you've read something you like, let me know. I like women who know what they want but I really like women who recognize that desires vary, so it is important to try different things.
Lastly, and forgive me if this is harsh: I'm not really interested in dating someone that lives outside of the city. If you live nearby but not in New York, then I don't understand you. If you don't live nearby then it would be rather difficult for us to date.
First Date
Isn't it who you are with, not what you happen to be up to? There is always something to do in New York. So first dates vary, but honestly, through the internet like this, probably a wine bar. On a first date you want to get to know the other person but these are essentially near-blind dates, so if there is no chemistry on either side, at worst you've had a few glasses of wine and met someone new.
