About Me
...Is he a promiser? or a fulfiller? A conqueror? or an inheritor? An autumn? or a plowshare? A physician? or one who has recovered? Is he a poet? or truthful? A liberator? or a tamer? good? or evil? "Thus Spoke Zarathustra": Second Part Nietzsche
The Early Years: Daddy grew up picking tobacco, cotton, various veggies and playing ball (military u -then serving the country), Mi Mamasita Preciosa grew up with a tequila shot in one hand, a pistol in the other and the heart of an eternal mother (went on to serve people in need-no time for university). I've always tried to keep the pace somewhere in between.
These Days: My penchant for adventure and playing rough runs pretty deep but I also appreciate the sedentary. A day scaling the rocks and an evening lounging by the river enjoying good wine and some sexy BBQ...perfecto! I'm definitely the outdoors type and prefer my mountain bike to the gym. I love any body of water and the sport that goes along with it. I spend the majority of my summers at the beach, lakes and rivers and the majority of winters bundled up enough to look like the Stay-Puff Marshmellow Man; searching for that next great trail. I personally prefer enduro bikes, atvs, or a 150 (as long as my feet touch the ground-as I am a little, little) to crotch rockets or hogs. I'm not impressed with 150mph or 10,000 decibels; particularly not with me on the back...but I do love to ride. I love to shoot...for skill not the kill. And yes; I mean guns (it's just requisite in my family). I will repeat...NOT for the kill. I despise the hunting of animals (for sport) and feel that there are more humans out there who deserve to be hunted than sweet little Bambis or Bullwinkles.
I'm only posing as a city girl, for now. I don't intend to live the rest of my days in Dallas and I travel the states and overseas as much as humanly possible; searching maybe, for that final destination. My list so far includes The Hill Country, New Mexico, Utah, Oregon, The Yucatan and possibly a little town called El Bruc, en mi Espana Linda. Being close to my family is extremely important to me though and it is more than likely I will choose my plot of land as close to home as possible. I'm splitting my bet between The Hill Country and New Mexico and planning on keeping the airlines busy and my truck geared up for the rest.
Make no mistake; I'm not completely made up of dirt and grit (O.K., mostly but not entirely...). My favorite little vintage Chanel dress and Monolo's sit side by side with the Patagonia and Merrells in my closet. I may prefer to be driving a dirt-bike rather than sitting on the back of a Ducati but I appreciate and am quite charmed by the gesture of a gentlemen checking that my helmet is fastened well or pulling my chair out for me at dinner. Despite my independent nature; I value the subtle differences between men and women, and am fond of a certain unspoken but never forgotten etiquette between the two.
My Admiration Belongs To: Those who rise to the occasion; despite even the clear fact that they might end up flat on their ass.
The GrooveMovement: I'm a child of the 70s and still listen to my Descendents lp and have a thing for Willie but my musical taste spans genre; as well as, the globe. I adore Manu Chao and all things Radio Chango. Nuf' said? I've spent a ridiculous amount of time overseas (Spain, Andorra, Morocco, southern France, Prague, Amsterdam) and I am deeply and profoundly in love with not only international sounds but culture, food, art and whatever else I can get my insatiable head and hands around.
The Lowdown: I speak English and Spanish fluently and have ventured a third language (Farsi) for about a year now (if you have to ask, "Why Farsi?" you'll probably never get the gist). Education is key to me. Whether formal or otherwise; the eternal quest for a new kind of any-knowledge (that just may some fine day lead to a little taste of wisdom) is my modus operandi.
The Future (no-i don't read tea leaves): There are many things I have done and so much more left to experience. I have, and am bound to live a thousand lives in just this lifetime; while others may figure on having only one to work with. Poor them.
The Breakdown: I am non-religious but extremely spiritual, somewhere in between conservative and liberal. Oh, and I can be quite outspoken without saying a single word at all.
and lest I forget: I'm quite naturally driven towards the scent of things that smell really, really...good.
As for more; well, I'm saving the dissertation for my PhD...the rest about me I'll leave open for conversation.
***10/27/2009*** 1. Life IS drama. Good, bad, simple, trying, amazing, loathsome...and at least a million and one more adjectives to fill the broad range of this ever changing spectrum. If your profile reads in one way or another that you haven't figured that out; please move on.
2. Not everyone is as fortunate as you and I. My better half happens to have a thing for putting my foot (ok...both feet and the rest of me) forward for those who are less fortunate; and yes, it does consume time and demand involvement. I don't expect everyone to take up the causes I might get involved with but be advised; I'm not one to stand on the sidelines for those that are close to my heart. There will be days; more often than not, when my time off is dedicated to more than just my own personal pleasures. If yours are the only thing that you ever think about; again, please move on.
3. If you can't find anything more interesting to say in a few lines than "Hello...How are you..or You're pretty"; move on. That's really sweet and all but we'll probably never breach quantum theory from there and I'm just not about the small talk.
4. If you can't stand to get to know someone a little before you rush off and meet face to face; move on. You might be easy on the eyes but it takes a world of other stimuli to get my attention... or my time.
5. 6,7,8,9,10...11,12. We should all make it a point to remember The Electric Company now and again.
