I'm a semi-athletic, intelligent and reasonably sociable geek looking for mad scientist in the Agatha Heterodyne mold, although Marie Curie also works. ;)

Semi-athletically, I work out with a trainer and occasionally backpack and hike. In the past I've taken West Coast Swing classes which I enjoyed, despite stepping on my own feet, literally. Soccer, cycling and swimming are cool too, but it's been too long since I've done any of them regularly.

Intelligencewise, I'm a polymath of sorts with a computer science emphasis. I'm also a genre fiction, history, physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, music, biology and medicine groupie too, but strictly a dabbler in those fields. Jobwise, I'm a UNIX software engineer with a Mac OS X fetish.

Geekishly, I read constantly, usually from the Science Fiction, Mystery or Fantasy genres and I enjoy DVDs of TV shows and movies in the same genres. While I like some dramatic, deep or arty films, I prefer action/adventure movies and witty comedies.

I love music, mostly in the Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Thrash, Progressive, Progressive Metal, Jam Band, Trance and Art Rock genres, but Classical music is also cool. Basically, I like loud, complex tunes with a bit of dissonance, polyphony and polyrhythm.

In psychological shorthand, I'm a Myers-Briggs INTP personality type and my N and P preferences are very strong, so "SJ" Guardian types: run away! ;)

Also, I'm an atheist, but I'm not militant about it. I just don't believe in the spiritual stuff, but if it makes you happy, cool. However, atheists and agnostics will have an easier time relating with me than religious and/or spiritual people will.

I'm looking for a woman who is smart, geeky, athletic and fit, sociable, educated, easy going, well balanced and well adjusted. Obviously I'm a big geek, but not socially maladjusted. Nonetheless, I appreciate iconoclasm and quirkiness and my dream woman feels the same way -- weird is a compliment, not a pejorative. However, I do grok reality and can work/live with the mundanes/muggles but I don't like it as much because it's so bland.

An obnoxious woman is attractive to me and harmless violation of social mores regarding good behavior makes me giggle. Sarcasm, puns, black humor, wit and snarkyness are cool, as long as the meanness quotient is low. Feel free to channel Dorothy Parker at any time. However, I really want to connect with someone emotionally, so warmth, empathy, consideration and friendliness are also requirements. Rounding out desired personality traits, ethics, authenticity, tolerance and low maintenance are key.

If you are a Myers-Briggs ESTJ, ESFJ, ISTJ, or ISFJ personality type or you have strong S or J preferences we would be a horrible match, since I'm a pretty strongly typed Myers-Briggs INTP and skew 100% iNtuitor and Perceiver (however I'm more centrist on the Introversion and Thinker preferences). Unfortunately in terms of chemistry, I'm often attracted to those lively SP types who are often bored with us daydreamy NT types, d'oh!

In terms of crass physicality, you are athletic, fit and active or you are making an honest and serious effort to become so. This is where I am in the exercise and health spectrum, so if you can push me physically, I'm game. A woman who lives for athletics at the expense of her intellect would be a bad match for me, but a genius jock would be way cool. This is less of an appearance thing, than a I don't want to bury you at 52 when you keel over from heart disease thing.

However, I do care about appearance and I apologize in advance for my shallowness here. You are pretty by my standards: tall, energetic, voluptuous mesomorphs or endomorphs with long hair, a contralto voice and artsy, hippy or athletic tomboy fashion sensibilities are my Kryptonite of choice.

Of course this form factor stuff is more of a preference and far less important to me than all the personality requirements listed above, but I likes what I likes. ;)

And finally regarding regarding the elephant in the room, I require a friends first dating process with a slowly developing relationship resulting in a strong emotional connection before sex. I categorically refuse to deal with the Oxytocin headslap of physical intimacy unless I'm already strongly attached on an intellectual and emotional level.

Regarding date type activities, dinner and a movie works, although conversation kind of suffers on that sort of date. Live music is good too, but that sucks for conversation too. I totally dig on the coffee house/tea shop sort of date. Cultural and educational stuff is cool. Despite happy feet, I can't dance for shit, so dancing out in public isn't a good idea. I won't say no to select outdoor activities, as long as they aren't totally X games, as I just don't have the physical chops for them. :( Other than that, I'm pretty open, but binge drinking the night away or touring wine country isn't my bag because I don't drink.
