Are you interesting? I just can't take another boring date.

Absolutely! I think one of the keys to a good relationship is to be able to communicate, and I really enjoy good conversations.

You don't live at home, do you?

Um, no, of course not. I think my parents are great, we talk regularly, and I enjoy visiting them from time to time. But I haven't lived at home since I left for law school.

Law school? Does that mean you have a job?

Yes. I went to law school at Harvard, and since law school I've worked for a big law firm. I know the recession has been tough for a lot of people working at big law firms, including many of my friends, but I've been lucky and everything is going well at my firm. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, of course, but so far, so good.

Do you ever get out of the office?

Yes, of course. Working at a big law firm is demanding, and sometimes things do come up at the last minute. But I also know that having time outside of work is really important, and I'm lucky to have some great friends I enjoy spending time with.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love to travel. This year, I've already been to London and Paris, and I'm working on where to go next. Any suggestions?

I also like to get outdoors -- kayaking and hiking are both favorites -- and, like I said before, I have some great friends I like to hang out with.

Where do you live?

I've been splitting my time between New York and San Francisco lately, which is fun, but means a lot of time on planes from coast to coast. The good news is that I'm saving up lots of frequent flier miles, and I'm looking forward to taking some fun trips.

What else should I know about you?

Just ask. I think that honesty is really important in any relationship, so feel free to ask whatever you like. Well, maybe not what my ATM code is, but you get the point.

I'd probably suggest that we meet for drinks on a first date -- something low key, so we could figure out if we have chemistry. If so, drinks would probably become dinner. With any luck, we'd enjoy each spending time together so much that we wouldn't want the date to end, and we'd stay until the restaurant closed.
