When is it my turn, that's my question. I watch as friend after friend pair off and find the love of their lives and yet here I am on an online dating service, the woman of my dreams having not yet dropped out of the sky into my lap. I have trouble figuring who I can and can't go up to in public to chat up, so this is the next natural step, I suppose. At least it's clear-cut who wishes what.

I hate these things because I never quite know what to say about myself. I'm a 29 year old special education teacher who spends sometimes long hours at school. I am in the process of getting my second master's degree and teaching a graduate class at a local university. In the near future I hope to finish that second master's degree and maybe even move onto teaching college full time. I enjoy that so much and I think that it might make me happier than the job I have presently.

As far as hobbies go, I love to take photographs and I write a great deal. I love to create, though I wish I were more creative. I find conversation with someone who can keep up quite stimulating and worthwhile as a hobby. I know that sounds weird, but a good debate is not to be overlooked as a way to spend an evening.

As far as relationship aspirations... I would like someone who I can talk with who is on my level, someone who has great ideas but is just as comfortable lying around watching a movie as going out and being social. I have a small group of friends that I am close to and I intend to stay close to, so a girl who likes to hang on with an iron grip isn't really for me. I've been burned, badly, when it comes to online relationships, so please understand if I have to take it slow. I'd like to start talking here via e mail or yahoo messenger (in_motu_proprio), then move on from there.


A quick FYI: In the photo, I'm the one on the left. We were at Lollapalooza seeing Patti Smith perform. The guy in the back... I haven't a clue who he is. A photo spammer, I suppose.

I want to be able to sit with someone and have a meaningful conversation. We could go out to dinner, a movie, bowling... I've recently grown a new affinity for mini golf, though that's mostly because I laugh like a loon when I totally muck up the shots. Time in the city is also a plus. While I despise driving down there, a nice train ride and some time at one of the museums is amazing. I love the Art Institute and Museum of Science and Industry especially. Hopefully the weather will warm up enough soon that we won't have to go down there wrapped head to toe in parkas!
