I like . . . books, friends, conversation, learning, walking, movies, games, eating out, concerts, plays, parks, museums, historical sites, fall leaves, sunsets, laughter, teaching, speaking, writing, book sales, garage sales, flea markets, chocolate.
I would like to . . . travel more, get back into golf, find some bridge players, have a dog again.
I listen to . . . classical music, jazz, blues, big band, bluegrass, occasionally classic rock -- and news, NPR.
I love . . . my three wonderful daughters -- and wish I lived closer to them.
I believe . . . God is good, life is about him (not me), Jesus came to make whole everything that's broken in me and in the world.
I’m comfortable . . . in a suit or in jeans, out or at home, alone or with others.
I laugh at . . . people, situations, Car Talk, comedians, movies, jokes, stories -- some people think I have a dry (or British?) sense of humor. I love to make others laugh, too.

I am:
* a professional, an administrator in higher education. (I have taught, but don’t get to now.) I love to solve problems and help organizations serve people better.
* analytical, careful, a planner -- I read (and even ask for) directions.
* in good health and exercise (at least) a couple times a week – more in the summer when I can walk outdoors.
* responsible, ethical, honest, courteous.
* a displaced Southerner who hopes someday to move further south; a displaced suburbanite who’d like someday to move closer to a larger city.

I don’t expect someone else to “make me happy” or “make my life complete” -- my life and my happiness are my responsibility. I hope to make some good friends and find a best friend with whom to share life's blessings and challenges. We should share some interests (and some differences). We should enjoy being close and having space. We should find each other interesting and attractive -- intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, physically.

You are confident, independent, and content with your life and work.
You may not have a lot of degrees or formal education, but you’re intelligent, like to think, like to read, like to discuss ideas and current events.
You are attractive and take care of yourself. You like to dress up, but also enjoy relaxing in jeans.
You don’t “need” a man to rescue or care for you, but you know that good things and good times are best when shared.

A cup of coffee or casual meal is a good setting for conversation that will help us get better acquainted. Walks are good, too (in good weather), sometimes shopping or museums. Movies, concerts, etc. are fun but not so good when we're first getting to know each other.
