Adventure should be my middle name as it’s my favorite passion. Put me outdoors and I'm happy. I'm a good conversationalist and better listener. Friends and family are important to me, and they know I'm always there for them. Even though my mom is almost 95, she is still my best friend. I also find volunteer work rewarding.

I'm compassionate, unpretentious, loyal, honest and caring. I'm flexible and tolerant of other opinions. My parents taught me my values, as well as financial responsibility (if you can't afford it, don't buy it and material possessions aren't that important); respect for others, and always be a good friend in the true sense of the word.

I love to laugh and focus on the positive. I don't dwell on the past, but live in the present, while planning for the future. I am not religious, but believe in a higher power that is within me. Politically, I am liberal but not to the far left.

I'm the president of a non-profit organization here in San Diego and am passionate about my cause. Sometimes it's almost like a full-time job, but it's worth it. I'm happier and busier now than when I worked.

I stay up to date with what's happening in the world and enjoy discussions on many topics. Note I say discussion and not arguments. If someone has a different point of view, I respect that, but don't want someone to try to convince me I'm wrong.

I have no major health problems. I'm thankful that I can continue to participate in the same activities I've always enjoyed.

I'm looking for an equal partnership. I don't need anyone to support me and I'm not looking for a man who wants someone who'll take care of him. I'm looking for a man who hopefully will have time to travel. I'm looking for someone with a snese of humor who can hold up his end of a conversation and who is interested in learning and expanding his horizon. I'd like to meet someone who exercises and tries to eat healthy. I have never been needy or felt I've needed a man to make me feel like a whole people, and I still think there is someone out there who's really special and that we would complement each other.

Possibly you see a red flag because I've never been married. Maybe I've just been lucky that I've seen my own red flags (orange ones too!) that have told me this wasn't the guy I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. The late 60s was a time when a lot of women didn't want to rush into marriage and start having kids. We valued an education and having a career. I know that I can't change a man so if there are things where we can't compromise and come to a common understanding, I've decided it's best not to continue the relationship.

Oh yes!!! That first date!! I don't want to be trite but basically it could be in any casual atmosphere - from having coffee, walking in a park or strolling on a beach. Maybe my date can come up with something unique.
