As continue reading the many personal ads on this site and others, I’ve noticed that levity often on the top of their list. One woman even said that humor is like an aphrodisiac. Sure, I like a good laugh as well, but this appeal from women often overshadows the virtues of faithfulness, ambition, loyalty, honesty, and sincerity.
Why are these virtues given so little attention? Men too–I’m sure–share the same problem. No doubt, humor is a good thing in a relationship. However, I’ve always believed that it becomes all the more enjoyable provided the virtues I mentioned are also making their presence felt toward each other.

If our intention in placing a personal ad was because we want more in love and life than our previous relationships it implies finding a mate who is in earnest in learning more about love than what he or she already knows. Just as we exercise and eat right for good health and appearance (and trying though it may be), the path towards self transformation, maturity, and wisdom is no different.

I could go on writing ad nauseam the sincerest of thought and feeling, but I’m sure you would agree that on the internet they are mere words. What brings to life words like sincerity, honesty, loyalty, and compassion would be a man who genuinely believes in them an expresses them with his heart and mind. The only way for you to witness this in me (or any other man) would be in a gradual awareness of who I am in person since no amount of e-mails or phones calls can make it happen.
