About Me
Sometime carpenter/handyman, gardener and contemplative philosophical writer. Single/solitary, spiritual. Happiest at home on my acre, out of the way of the rat race. Coasting through the remainder of life modestly retired but still fairly active and reasonably free of health problems at age 60. In agreement with most wise men who consider love a form of insanity; a controlling, corrupting, viral worm that must never be permitted psychological entry. Prefer the rare fool insane enough to be interested in me to be materially self-sustaining, merely seeking an imaginative friend, monogamous playmate and occasional handyman.
Many incidents beyond explanation having occurred throughout my life; I finally set out on a determined search for God which ironically led me, to a great extent, away from organized religion and The Book. The reading of hundreds of so called "near death experiences" as well as the principles of something called Theosophy, which is more a science than a religion, brought me to a truth I could accept. I believe our essence is consciousness; adventurous, ingenious, playful, eternal, indestructible and part of a Great Consciousness; the grand designer of this elaborate illusion we live in. My guidance through life, as if it was ever otherwise, is by way of vicariousness, reason, common sense and intuition. I'm a pacifist and believe the Christian phrase, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap" is certain. In other words, good begets good and evil punishes itself. There's no need for judgement, condemnation or anxiety; all accounts are eventually settled. With the lion's share of this earthly lifetime now behind me and having finally stumbled upon wisdom, one of my favourite pastimes is observing the behaviour of younger others as they grapple with their lives.
Favorite quotes: "I had a girlfriend once... drove me to drink. I've been indebted to her ever since." -W.C. Fields
" I want all of you to get up right now, get up and go to the window, open it and stick your head out and yell, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!" -news anchor Howard Beale, as portrayed by Peter Finch in the 1976 movie, "Network". (Rainless thunder and lightening is observed outside as Howard Beale continues his participant invited diatribe/curse, a sure sign of disturbed consciousness.) I find this award winning film as socially relevant to American life today as when it was released in '76.
