About Me
NOTE: I'VE MET A VERY, VERY SPECIAL LADY ON ANOTHER SITE - GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FISHES ON HERE AND IN THE ONLINE DATING WORLD!

NOTE: Profile got accidentally deleted (I see it has happened to a few people on here recently) so had to start over :).

Greetings Stranger :),

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. Looking forward to hearing from you fishes out there :).

ABOUT ME:
Having spent the first half of my life in a semi-developing nation, my life now would be very different if it were not for some seemingly random, chance occurrences. I consider myself truly fortunate to be doing the things that I'm doing, surrounded by really amazing parents and friends. My approach to life and what I do is shaped to a great extent by the way I was raised and where I grew up. After living on welfare in the "white ghetto" of a big US metropolis and attending an inner city high school with metal detectors where whites were a minority, it's been off to the East Coast for the last 8 years for college and graduate studies. Having seen how the poorest and richest people in America live, I've tried to focus on the important things in life, to poke fun at and never take myself too seriously.

ON RELATIONSHIPS:
I like to follow the 3 C's – communication, compromise, and commitment. I'm a straight shooter and will call you out when I think you've done something wrong, but also extend unqualified praise and gratitude when merited. I expect the same from the other person. Also, never take the other person for granted. I think respect and admiration for the other person and what they do is very important because then you become a fan of him/her and you root for him/her to be a better person and also better at what they do. I have absolutely no problem admitting when I've done something wrong and apologizing for it. I'm very liberal and open-minded in my political and philosophical outlook both in my personal life and when it comes to others.

QUOTES THAT I LIKE:
"Education is our passport to the future for the future belongs to those who prepare for it today" – Malcolm X (The Autobiography of Malcolm X is a powerful book).

"Never did a crime I didn't have to do" – 2pac

"All of you snakes in the grass can call me Mr. Lawn Mower" – Lil Wayne

"I wish all of life was just extracurriculars." – my friend Jackie H.

I’M REALLY GOOD AT:
Multi-tasking
Being a royal pain
Soccer (not that good any more but used to play a lot when I was growing up); actually, I like to play and watch almost any sport

THE FIRST THING PEOPLE USUALLY NOTICE ABOUT ME:
Shaved head :) (sometimes there's a smiley face painted on it :)

WHAT I’M DOING:
If you live in this country, you most likely have an opportunity to make a positive difference in a lot of people's lives. Ultimately, what I would like to do is make a positive difference in as many people's lives as possible. A lot of times the biggest difference can be the smallest gesture of kindness and the biggest reward a smile. More practically speaking, though, I'm in the MD/PhD program at a local medical school, currently doing my PhD in molecular neuroscience. The nervous system is fascinating and disorders that affect it can impact on uniquely human traits such as language and higher reasoning, which can change people in astonishing ways. Medicine and science can be very rewarding but at the same quite demanding endeavors; I greatly enjoy doing both, and I'm quite dedicated to what I do. Needless to say, I keep myself busy as there's always more to do.

FAVORITE:

BOOKS (in no particular order) - One Hundred Years of Solitude, Beloved, Farewell to Arms, The Old Man and the Sea, My Antonia and other Cather, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, The Awakening, The Stranger, Lord of the Flies, Ficciones, Our Town, A Streetcar Named Desire, Siddhartha, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (read this last one in one of my favorite classes entitled Affect: Biological, Psychological, and Social Aspects of Feelings – yup, we definitely did talk about our feelings a lot) – unfortunately haven't had a chance to devote much time to reading any good fiction for a long time now.

MOVIES – I doubt you'll find another person who's seen fewer than I have – nothing against going to the movies, just always seemed to find other things to do; Borat was a classic, and I did see The Great Debaters online recently and liked it a lot. American Gangster was great too. What can I say – Denzel is one brada who can act.

In general, I think there is nothing more powerful, in real life or in fiction/film, than the triumph of the human spirit over adversity so anything that deals with that, I'll most likely go for.

MUSIC – anything from ABBA to 50 cent but Jimi Hendrix (Are YOU Experienced?), G'n'R, Deep Purple, Eminem, 2pac, The Game, Akon

FOOD – I try to eat as healthy as possible; fish and fruits are on top of the list.

THE SIX THINGS I COULD NEVER DO WITHOUT:

My best friend Linda
My other friends
Their smiles, laughter, jokes
Coffee
Ipod
P200 pipetman (cuz you can go both hi and lo)

I SPEND A LOT OF TIME THINKING ABOUT:
1. How to be a better person, better friend, better at what I do - there's always room for improvement :)
2. How much wasted potential there is out there - every one of us has the potential to change the world, to make a big, positive difference, but where you are born, who your parents and friends are can go a long way to determining whether you even have a shot at surviving your childhood. I know for a fact that I didn't work any harder while in my mother's womb to have what I have than the kid born in Africa who starves to death.

ON A TYPICAL FRIDAY NIGHT I AM:
For the right person – anything; but usually dinner with friends, working in lab, exercising, watching sports

YOU SHOULD MESSAGE ME IF:
I'm gonna get ma boi Ludacris to hook it up on this one: You should message me if you are "a lady in the street but a freak in the bed." (more or less along those lines :))
PS. I know women want be chased, impressed, treated like a lady, and so on, and I’m all for that and I like doing all of those since I know that chivalry is not dead; but if I haven't stalked or messaged you and you feel I should have, well, just stalk or message me, and I'll take it from there :)

First Date
When it comes to first dates I’m very flexible and very much open to anything. A good first date would be one where we get to know each better while doing a fun activity that we both enjoy. A visit to a museum or an art exhibit, any type of crafts (painting, pottery, jewelry making (I like to string together beads for necklaces and such - it's a lot of fun)), sailing or participating in some other type of sport would be a good place to start. Getting a smoothie or a cup of coffee and sitting down in a bookstore or a garden will do just fine as well.

biggerthomas has 2 roses that can be sent.
