I moved to Chicago from Texas about two years ago. The reason I moved from somewhere warm all year to somewhere unforgivably cold is all so I could further my career in improv. The whole comedy thing has worked out so far, I guess, but like everything else in my life, it's a work in progress. Did I mention I write captions for Hallmark greeting cards? Just kidding, I only color in those huge, incredibly creepy eyes on those weird Precious Moments dolls. So the next time you're in an aunt or grandmother's house and feel something porcelain and clichè staring at you, you're welcome. In reality I work at a hotel and it kind of sucks. I'm usually on here when I'm supposed to be working, but I suffer from a crippling sense of ennui rivaling that of the Underground Man when I'm not lifting heavy things while wearing a business suit.

So when I'm not at work, I'm usually occupying my time with more worthwhile pursuits, by that I mean reading, writing, listening to music, going to shows, watching movies, drinking and playing video games. Combine the last two: it's a recipe for instant fun.

Ultimately, what I want out of life is to make a living doing something creative. Hopefully it's writing, comedy, or acting. Maybe a combination of the three, who knows. Just anything that doesn't involve being the footstool of some polo shirt wearing parasite named Gary.

So here's where I talk about what I like in the way of music and film. Right now, I've been listening to Girls, Animal Collective, Sonic Youth, Red House Painters, the Replacements and Archers of Loaf. I was all about punk and stuff as a kid. If you like good music, we'll have a lot to talk about. Same for movies: if you've seen it and I haven't, well, let's just say I'll be impressed. Don't go thinking I'm a film snob or anything; I've just seen way too many movies.

I'm on here because I have a fairly busy schedule that doesn't give me much time to meet new people, but I'm trying to fix that. I guess I'm looking to meet someone that likes good movies/music/books/whatever. I want to meet someone that can talk about what interests them with passion.

Our first date would just be doing something where we could relax and get to know each other. It could range from going to a museum to getting coffee to getting drinks or anything, really.
