I have been a widow for almost eight years - enough time to know that, while I am pretty independent, it would be nice to have someone to spend some evenings with, going to movies, dinner, or just visiting. I really am looking for a good friend first - but am open to a deeper, perhaps more permanent relationship if that seemd right for both. I have the privilege of living on the family farm just north of Edmonton and love the rural life, even though I now rent the land out. I enjoy live theatre, sitting by the fire (inside or outside), good wine, travel, music and good books. I have two grown sons who are very much a part of my life. Overall, life is good.

I guess that depends on when and who I would be meeting. I would prefer the first meeting to be just for coffee or a glass of wine - but I don't really consider that the first 'date' but just a 'get aquainted' time. First dates would more likely focus on taking a stroll, perhaps dinner and a movie or just a nice drive in the country.
