About Me
hmm, what to write. how does one sound witty yet plain spoken, ironic yet kind, urbane but with simple tastes, funny but serious, intelligent yet humble, mysterious yet open, hip but quirky, sensitive but strong, quiet yet extroverted, smart but spastic, without actually being any of the above? i guess i'd better start lying. okay, i'm extremely witty, plain spoken, ironic, kind... this feels uncomfortably close to an employment application. i'm not opposed to being a kept man, as long as there's an employee cafeteria and retirement plan. if any of the above seems remotely true, our senses of humor probably won't mesh.
a woman who free associates with an ironic but unmean attitude is very appealing. she should be funny, intelligent, kind, a reader, like to discuss movies and books, curious about the world, esoteric, open to trying new things, like sushi, enjoy sampling the wines of the central coast, monterey and the carmel valley (my favorite escape from texas), willing to wash the dishes if i do the cooking and last but not least (to quote bono): 'moves in mysterious ways'. i'm mostly punctual, true to my word (except when i'm little white lying) and always, always, always stick with the plan unless you think of something better to do at the very last second -- commitment issues? what? me?
what else? i travel alone a lot for work so i really enjoy having a travel partner for leisure time. i spend a lot of time in houston for work --sometimes i think i should just move and be done with it. lol. i lived away from s.a. for several years in a few different cities and a couple of countries -- fun while it lasted. i'm an avid reader-- books, ny times, vanity fair, cereal boxes, whatever. i'm serious about cooking. i'd like to think that i've picked up few tips from chef friends, it's probably wishful thinking.
favorite things: bookstores, my niece and nephew, poker night, npr, live music, dancing, chalupas and fruit cups at church festivals, wine, art house movies, beagles, the beach, vancouver, xm radio, lots o' other stuff. lately i've been digging the muzak at HEB...for some reason they're playing a lot of cool kids' music from the 80's, lots of roxy music, dire straits, tears for fears, david bowie, b52's, smiths, etc. d*mn, does that mean they've i.d. me in that most tired of demographic cliches: frequent shopper?? yeek, suddenly i'm feeling very unhip. think i'll go pull out my old foghat and frampton comes alive 8tracks and listen to them in the dark as i regress to grade school..."slow riiiiiide...take it eazaaaah..." yeah, feelin hipper already. ;)
