I am often affectionate, sometimes silly and occasionally fixate on something and need to be physically pried away. I am a committed environmentalist, a gourmet cook, a writer, a poet, a dancer, a practicer of yoga, a lover of books and a proud liberal. I am physically active and my car radio is perpetually tuned to NPR. The music on my iPod includes everything from Joni Mitchell to Radiohead to Sex Pistols to Brahms. I am honest, consistent, open minded and true to my word, you should be, too. It's good if we can laugh together and learn how to disagree without being disagreeable (yes, I stole that from President Obama). If you voted for Bush or McCain, you probably aren't for me and PLEASE don't feel the need to reprimand me for being inconsistent (how can you be open and then not be open to anyone that voted for Bush? Trust me, I can). Also, there ought to be a way to filter out people who over use emoticons. I'm just saying, too many smiley faces and that little green thing gets a little creepy.

I am not into organized religion, but find myself spending time at the Buddhist learning center. Any religion that has as one of it's major thinkers a guy that calls for the abolition of organized religion is for me. I have a strong desire to make the world a better place. I like the deep connection and partnership of a committed relationship with the right person. Being a good parent is the accomplishment that makes me most proud. My interests are diverse - yoga, philosophy, Buddhism, art, music, theater, sports, politics, writing, literature, nature, photography, travel, food, wine, cooking - and I like being turned on to new things. I have traveled quite a bit and lived overseas several times. I trust easily and I value intellect, humor, integrity and the desire for growth, greater awareness and making a positive contribution to the world. Smart and funny is sexy to me; integrity, loyalty and self-awareness are critical.

I like a first date that involves a lot of great conversation.
