I tend to shy away from crowds and shouted conversations, so the bar, club, or party scene doesn’t hold a lot of appeal for me. I suppose that explains some of the difficulty I’ve had meeting people and why I'm here.

Personality-wise I’m a fairly easygoing, open minded, sporadically creative, more-or-less well adjusted twenty something who can be shy at first, but warms up quickly if given the chance. Not quite geeky enough to hold up my end of the conversation with the gamer/D&D/comic-con types, but not cut out for mixing with the trendy, hipster cool kids either. I've been spending a lot of days and nights in lately, but that’s mostly on account of not having anyone to go out and about with. A bit of a shut-in, but not by choice, y'know?

Typically I've found I get along better with women than most of the guys I’ve met, so when I say I’m here to meet a girl, that doesn't mean it has to be for a date, necessarily. I’m up for anything from platonic friendship to a long-term relationship (though I do like to be good friends with someone before I consider moving onto anything more involved). I'm a straightforward and honest person who does his best to steer clear of head games, deception, and self-created drama.

No real specifics in who I’m looking to meet, but traits like geekiness; nerdiness; tolerance; creative or artistic inclinations; a tendency to question or challenge traditional gender roles or expectations; and generally possessing an individualistic personality or style are all considered pluses in my book (though certainly not requirements). Really, if I manage to find someone I get along with who enjoys my company and doesn't live too far away, I would consider this whole thing a success.

Currently unemployed and studying art at George Mason University while living at home (and, yes, I’m aware that’s about as unappealing a description as someone filling out a profile on a dating site should risk applying to himself, but it’s the truth at the moment). So I suppose I’m also looking to find a girl for whom those aren’t considered huge drawbacks. Someone who can accept me for who I am and communicates well.

So, friendship, relationship, hanging out occasionally, or whatever you’re looking for; if you don’t find me objectionable, we should talk.

I’m never sure what to do on a date -- least of all a first date. I’m most accustomed to hanging out with someone while talking and driving around town somewhat aimlessly. But I expect for real dates meeting at some neutral location like a coffee shop or something is the norm, right? Just some place you can talk and see if you both get along or not.

Thai food always tastes like dating to me (though I wouldn't choose to eat at a restaurant the first time meeting someone). Can you count sitting together on the trunk of someone's car eating ice cream a date? Because that is what I'd like to do.
