While making plans for New Year’s Eve, a friend of mine and I thought that it might be fun to meet a pair of female friends via pof and spend the holiday evening as a group. We have no tentative plans, but seeing as how Chicago has a number of popular bars and restaurants, it seemed like a good place to start - but we would certainly be open to other alternatives as well. So, if you find one or both of us to be remotely interesting and don’t have any formal plans for New Year’s Eve and a friend to spend it with, we’d be happy to hear from you. And in the interest of good discretion, we would be inclined to get to know eachother a bit better before meeting up on the holiday - be that via e-mail or even a chat over coffee. I'm all for taking chances, but I think that avoiding a near-blind double date for New Year's Eve would be in everyone's best interest. :)

About me? . . . Well, I have recently finished graduate school and am now vehemently looking for a position as an urban or regional planner. It is something of an unconventional career (which I would gladly explain to the curious observer), but since discovering it, I cannot imagine doing anything else with my life – it is just that cool. Also, since spending much of the last two years in the heart of a major city, I have become enamored with the idea of urban living and would love to someday return to one. But for now, the suburbs will have to do.

I enjoy many things . . .

As an undergrad I played ultimate frisbee, a sport that has subsequently become an extremely important part of my life. The thrill and intensity of the game is as addictive as it is invigorating. And while I have enjoyed playing many sports over the years, few ever taught me the meaning of camaraderie as ultimate frisbee has.

During the summer, and occasionally fall, I travel to my family’s cabin in the northwoods. I feel extremely lucky to have this quite little corner of world and source of childhood memories – it is my favorite place. But I enjoy finding other new places, be they in the heart of a major city or a small country town.

A few other things that I like: biking the streets and lakefront, jogging, volleyball, lounging at the local cafe, riding the bus / rail car, historic fiction, road trips, the news, planning – and most anything that a life in the suburbs denied my childhood. :) As far as my music interests . . with a few exceptions they essentially have no limits.

An activty would be nice. Perhaps frisbee in the park or a stroll through downtown - basically anywhere that shouting isn't required to maintain a conversation.
