My goal here is to meet someone to actually do stuff with. There are lots of concerts & cultural events to experience, but they are no fun alone. I'd rather be out in my kayaks or hiking, or doing most anything outdoors rather than sitting here typing. I am an endurance athlete and a classical musician. I compete in road & mountain bike races, along with running events. Any excuse to get outdoors is fine with me. I am a brass player in non-profit, community bands. I like to read non-fiction and current events mags, and relish science & history documentaries. I enjoy most all genres of music and any movie that has some artistic value.

I am realistically cynical about some aspects of life, but I'm also a true romantic, and not afraid to cry. I've always been the best cook in my relationships, and believe in total equality, honesty, open communication, lifelong learning, and openness to new experiences. At my age, I've learned that physical appearance is not a top priority; however, I work hard to stay fit & healthy so my partner should do the same. Intelligence, sense of humor and a youthful outlook are most important.

I have 3 grown sons & one grandson. I've been single for way too long, and miss the closeness and shared experiences of a committed relationship. I hope to be semi-retired next year so I can travel, but that goal is unappealing without someone special to see the world with me. Let's hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and cycle/eat all over Italy, France & Germany.

A nice first date would be somewhere quiet. A stroll around the duck pond in my neighborhood, or a casual dinner fit my lifestyle. Anywhere with a relaxed atmosphere would be fine, as long as we can talk face to face & see if there is any chemistry that can't be discerned from reading this website.
