I'm a Christian woman who has been on her own for my entire adult life. I've got spikey hair, a couple of hidden tattoos, and a tiny little nose ring. I enjoy being different from what people expect, but I don't take it to extremes. I've been teaching in my current school for the past nine years. I find I have a natural instinct to care for others, even though my appearance might make me seem as if I am too independent.

I love the part of teaching that allows me to inspire kids to be better. I love it when students come back to visit, because I know I made a difference in their life in some way. I love when kids have that "Ah-ha" moment because something they've been struggling with suddenly and finally clicks! I love to see the sparkle in the eye of that kid who can't read but is totally in love with a novel because I'm reading it to him and he sees the story play out in his mind.

Things I enjoy:

walks with interesting people
movies: girl movies & guy movies (i.e. Transformers, Gladiator, The Fast & The Furious to name a few - but not scary ones)
theatre: Les Miserables, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Siagon
music: most varieties - especially alternative & Christian alternative, singing (karioke falls here too, yes I can sing),
reading: almost anything, but mostly sci-fi/fantasy and things that my students could read as I'm a Language Arts teacher, Most recent read: The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond. Excellent book!
animals: I have 2 cats (Jangles and Tang). For the last couple of years, I've been rescuing kitties and finding new homes for them. Right now though, I'm back to just my own kitties.
volunteering & helping those less fortunate than myself: I don't do this as much as I'd like, so perhaps someone will be interested in doing this with me?
I'd like to get back into going to the gym and working out, but I'll admit I need a little motivation, so a workout partner would be nice also.
And almost anything else with the right people.

First dates are tricky. By far, the best first date I've ever been on was dinner and an old school arcade. Something out of the ordinary that gives a little insight to "who the person is", as well as offers a good opportunity to get to know each other makes for a great date in my book. I think first dates need to be planned based upon who you are with, so it's difficult to describe an ideal one here.
