So, just what makes me unconventional? That's a tough question to answer, but I'll try to give some examples. I have enough self-confidence to have strong opinions. I'm a creature of logic, and I use my intellect to guide me. I don't subscribe to the conventional wisdom, and I don't believe what the experts say, just because they say it. I am not afraid to speak up for what I believe is right. That does NOT mean I am a bully however. I will kindly listen to the opinions of others, and change my mind easily if presented with evidence that I am wrong. Sometimes I will be the most dressed-up guy in the room; at other times the most casual, it all depends on my mood. I may decide to go to bed at 9 pm or stay up until 3 am; anything goes. Last year I thought of going to "Carnival" in Rio do Janeiro, and five minutes later I was planning the trip. On my daughter's 21st birthday, I tried to think of something that would make a lasting impression; something that she would remember. So, I took her skydiving. So, what are the things that are really important in my life? My two daughters, of course. (They are grown and no longer live with me.) Music is a really big thing. I have been a "rock & roller" from way back, but any music will do. Travel & photography is a big one, and I plan on doing a lot more of that in the future. I have been married and divorced once. That marriage was filled with drama, and I don't want tension like that in my life again. Everyone who knows me will tell you that the "real me" is very calm, and that I tend to be calming to those around me. My goal is to find a kind and like-minded lady who is also relaxed, and doesn't obsess over the little things; someone who is "clicked into" what is really important in life; and someone who I can take care of and who will take care of me. I will never cheat on my partner, nor treat her poorly, but I expect this same respect in return.

I believe honesty is what's required here. So, I'm not going to say something fanciful like a trip to Paris or anything like that. It may sound a bit square, but I really think a lunch or dinner together (my treat, of course) can actually make a very romantic first date. What better way to make a connection with a lady than to sit across from her just a few feet away, perhaps be able to catch a whiff of her perfume, and especially be able to look deep into her eyes. They say that to look into one's eyes is to look into the depths of their soul, and I believe that to be true. After an hour or two in conversation this way, one can learn an awful lot about your date, and whether or not you would like to continue the relationship.
