Usually what I like to do on the first date is meet for a cup of coffee, or a drink, in a non noisy place where I can have a chance to talk with the person, and get to know each other. Day time lunches and coffee are more relaxing, and shows more of the real person. I believe that most people on the first date are going to know if it is going to go any further with the person.
