I am interested in friendships as a way to get to know someone else, and my own needs, better. Hopefully another relationship of commitment, caring, and shared values and interests is possible in my future. Meanwhile I am not willing to give up a need for "Coming Home to Myself." While I enjoy and appreciate the "vistas" that others can open me up to, I am not merely a follower. The "Dance" of steps and turns, opening up and spiraling out, clasping close and letting go, that is both "Life" and "Relationship" is more to my liking. And this "dance" also includes "community" for me. Life is an on-going dialog with self and others...and with our world! As well as that phrase, "Life is a Problem-Solving Adventure!" Challenges and Sharing and Fun!

For myself now, Life is full of gratitude and appreciation, giving and receiving, learning and teaching (including learning to both reach out and also let go), fun, humour, good times and sharing (including of both joy and sorrow), being in Nature as a place of peace and healing...as well as for beauty and exercise,....and finally, for expressing my natural talents and my emotional/thinking/intuitive self more through the Visual Arts and through my Writing, and through my involvement with the people in my life.

All of my rather large immediate and extended family lives in the States, or in Norway and Italy/Spain. I have lived full time in Courtenay for the past three and a half years, but have visited here for much longer. This visiting occurred while I lived with my husband and a few others in the wilderness of the West Coast of Vancouver Island, near the NW tip of Nootka Island for twenty years. Before that I lived an urban lifestyle as a single working mother after graduating with a BFA in Painting from the Univ of Washington, with a secondary interest in Cultural Anthropology. Between (and at the end of) the wilderness years and my return to the Comox Valley as my Home, I spent the last six years of my son's life with him in the Seattle area, caregiving and allowing him to thoroughly enjoy friends, family, and "being alive" as we fought the "medical wars" together. I would not have wanted to be anywhere else! I am currently looking to further create and expand my community (family) of friends and resources in the Comox Valley....and on Vancouver Island...and in other areas of this amazing, beautiful, and sometimes "crazy" world.

For a first meeting, I would prefer either a chance for quiet talk at a local coffee shop or cafe, one with relaxing live music is fun (maybe a second date?)....or esp I would enjoy an exploratory walk in Nature; a local beach or riverside trail, anywhere with water and a view! A walk first, then tea after...lunch if we're hungry. I'm open as long as there is a mixture of activity and talk...and laughter!
