My adult Children and Grandchildren are the center of my life. I love most kinds of music except country western and am as at home cooking as I am building things in my workshop. I've lived in quite a few countries during army service so have varied tastes in food, culture, music and the like. Now settled in the countryside outside Fredericton, I can't imagine not living beside the St John Rver.

I'd like to have a relationship with the right woman, but know myself well enough to know that I would not be happy with an inactive person, nor likely she with me. My family sometimes tease me that I'll not find someone who is nearly as active as me but that doesn't stop me from trying. Ever optimistic!

I'd like to share life with someone who also has her own varied interests and activities. I have lots of friends, am not really keen on dating sites and, yet one more thing, would like to find someone who has not adopted these sites as a primary social outlet. Please don't get me wrong - I really like my computer and use it a lot as a learning and communications tool but when it comes to people, I prefer the real thing and would really like to get off of here.

Although I do have an idea about the kind of person I'm looking for, I'm so far out of the dating scene that it's hard to know where to start, and maybe even a bit shy about all this. Living alone is not very challenging but leaves an incredible vacuum where love, respect for another and the joy of being and doing things together should be. I'm learning that being active while aging can be a problem as so many of us seem to choose an inactive and often unhealthy lifestyle; I'll just keep looking for somone who still has a zest for life.

Now that gardening and hunting are over, I'm looking forward to the coming cross country ski season, a return to making black ash fishing creels and to trying some new basket styles. Meanwhile it'll be back to NB in a couple of days and maybe use all that snow to tackle the Christmas waistline!
