I'm an attorney at a downtown Los Angeles law firm. I practice mergers and acquisitions, and, to be honest, I actually like my job. In my spare time, I play tennis (rather badly), buy books (rather compulsively), eat sushi (rather ravenously) and go to the gym (rather reluctantly). I've also recently bought a rather hideous looking keyboard off craigslist and spend a lot of my time staring at it in a puzzled sort of way. I should probably get a lesson. The one thing you should know about me - I'm not from here. I grew up in India, went to law school in Cambridge, MA, and then moved to LA. Some people are fine with that, but others feel like they need to be able to talk with someone who has a firm understanding of baseball and other fine American arts. My work and background have allowed me to travel and see bits of the world, and that has certainly shaped my perspective of life. I don't know if any of this makes me less or more appealing, but I thought it worth sharing.

I'm looking for someone to hang out with and do and see things around here, and if it leads to more, then great. This doesn't mean I'm looking for a hookup. Intimacy of the non-physical kind is as important to me as to the next person. Sometimes it's instant, more often, it's gradual. I'm not looking for someone who necessarily has the same interests, but I am looking for someone who is intellectually compatible, and more importantly who is positive, capable of being happy and has an appreciation for the lighter side of life.

A perfect first date would be where I didn't try to be funny and ended up sounding like an absolute idiot instead. For instance, I'm experimenting with a stubble at the moment, and one of my co-workers said today that it made me look tough and that people wouldn't be pushing me around. And I said that I certainly hoped so because my lightsaber wasn't working. This is the sort of terrible joke that I hope never to make during the perfect first date.
