I enjoyed people I met previously on POF but became too busy to keep up with the contacts and correspondance, so took a leave for awhile. I'll give it another whirl as I am still alone and miss being a companion to one whose sensibilities I share. I am looking for someone with a great sense of humor, wit, intellect and sensitivity - not perfect, just working on your life. I love to sing and enjoy all types music but jazz is my favorite. Writing is a huge part of my life - currently writing memoir and poetry, but enjoy the memoir writing most. I am a mother, sister, daughter, auntie and loyal friend. I have great friends who have carried me through a few very tough times with their kindness and love. Most people think of me as generous and funny. I am a dedicated volunteer (read; frequent sucker)and enjoy the many events that occur in Port Townsend.
My goals are to go on retreat from my daily life and concentrate on writing - this would be PERFECT if the retreat were in Italy or France! Oh, and to win the lottery -that's a goal - but think I may be competing with my mom on that one.
Lately, listening to Dylan, Tom Waits (a genius) and some music from my past like Jackson Browne, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Rundgren, Tubes. But this changes regularly as my teenage son introduces me to new music daily. Lately, I am listening to a lot of Indian ragas - just learned there are specific ragas for morning and night - I LOVE this! We have a multitude of instruments and there is always music going on here. I am equally proud and appalled that SPRINGSTEEN is on the cover of a recent AARP magazine!!! Still looks good in his jeans at sixty but when did we get this old? Some favorite films that come to mind are Cinema Paradiso, Night of the Iguana, Julie and Julia (a recent fave)but there are so many.
As in every life, mine has known great joy and great sadness. I try to examine the lesson.
I work hard and make little but am in a profession I am passionate about.
I attended design school ages ago. Now and then I still do some of this - in addition to making radio commercials and officiating weddings in my 'spare' time. But my regular, day-job is human service related.

I get cranky when I have to decipher email that is written in short hand! So, if you're "Loking fer fon" I might not be your best contact. Also, what's up with all of you guys holding pictures of BIG fish? Or leaning against your car or bike or truck? Or, the best, with your HAND IN YOUR PANTS? Manly, manly stuff, that.
(By the way, the uptowngirl moniker references the area in which I live, not my attitude - and certainly not that terrible Billy Joel song.)
Ultimately, it's about chemistry, isn't it? But if you can lift heavy things and fix stuff, that is definitely a bonus.
Seriously, I am certainly and always open to corresponding with and making new friends.
