I'd like to meet a warm, kind and loving woman, who is also sexy as hell, wickedly intelligent, with a terrific sense of humor. I don't intend to spend a lot of space describing my 'ideal' woman - one of the many downsides to online dating is that, IMO, it makes it easy to talk ourselves right out of a great relationship by applying exclusionary criteria upfront. Fundamentally, I want to meet a woman capable of honesty and authenticity, of giving and receiving love, of participating in the construction and sustenance of a healthy relationship. A woman willing to take the risks necessary to get there.

I'm a very complex, very intense guy - thoroughly unorthodox - formidably intelligent. I desire a serious, long term relationship, but intend to move at due speed – respecting the process is important. A solid friendship has to be the foundation, and that takes time to develop. I'm not in a rush.

My interests are numerous, but my focus right now is on personal development, especially the spiritual aspect. I have a daily meditation practice to which I'm committed. I volunteer quite a bit at a local Buddhist center, which was in fact the motivation behind moving to Marin, but I do not consider myself to be a Buddhist, per se. In fact, I'm opposed to formal, institutionalized religions. Why should awakening require a priesthood?

I workout several days a week at the gym, including a lot of yoga, and like to road bike when it's warm outside. I'm not a sports nut, not frenetic in my pursuit of fitness – I just like being healthy and in good physical shape - it would be great to meet a woman with similar views. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I eat clean – i.e. healthfully and cruelty-free. I don't drink, smoke or ingest drugs, except for a glass of wine now and again. I'm not a zealot about it, I just got tired of a lifestyle that was centered around such things.

My passion is learning – I tell people I'm the most inquisitive person on the planet, and that's not far from the truth. My interests (they don't have to be yours!) range from cosmology to evolutionary psychology to political philosophy to history to anthropology and sociology to developmental psychology to evolution to neuroscience to various aspects of spirituality to organic and biodynamic gardening to ethnic cooking, to ...

I'm a voracious reader. And I'm an excellent cook (my Thai red curry is awesome :).

I like having fun, but I do not organize my life around a frenzied pursuit of it. If you're chasing it, you're not allowing it to occur in the moment, and the moment is where we live our entire lives. The present moment - this one right now - is truly all we have. Making each one count is the trick.

I love intelligent movies that capture and explore existential aspects of the human drama (American Beauty, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pleasantville, Traffic, etc), and incisive, off-beat comedies (think: The Life Aquatic) - I watch as many documentaries as movies, though. I love music - way too many bands to go into here. Alternative/progressive/hard rock/etc. Lately, a lotta Muse and Porcupine Tree.

I try to steer clear of contemporary American pop culture (I don't own a TV which makes this pretty easy), and of the consumerist/materialist mentality associated with it - hamsters frantically going nowhere on a wheel. Been there, done that, over it.

I don't fear commitment, but I've also learned not to jump into it incautiously. My goal is to build a healthy and functional relationship based upon authenticity, that features genuine intimacy. I'm ready to offer and receive a level of love that I think is rare in this world. It will take a really special and unique woman to meet me there. They say there are plenty of fish in the sea...but then, I'm not looking for just any fish...

Depends on shared interests - something casual where we could take our time and get to know each other. Perhaps the zoo or a museum. Go cart racing might be fun, too. You can tell a lot about a person by their go carting style. ;-)
