It's funny how hard it is to write about yourself on the spot. I guess it’s just easier when it comes out naturally.

Me: I’m a good conversationalist and don't mind talking politics or religion, music and movies, or old episodes of Sesame Street. I'm a people person generally and I like to go out for dinner, see a rockin’ concert, or even play some mini-golf. I'm a die-hard music fan, from Edith Piaf - White Zombie. But I'm rock n’ roll if you ask me; my weakness is U2. I'm a creative person and I love what I do. I have a super cool 18 yr old who keeps me on my toes.

I spend my free time with friends going to plays, movies, playing games, etc. I also volunteer with some local organizations. I like to travel when I can and love a good road trip as well. I admit to not being a sports fan, but I'll try being a spectator at least once to see if I like it. My "clubbing" days are over and if I'm out for a drink, I’ll be at a quiet pub or on a nice patio if the weather permits.

You: You’re good-natured with a social conscience, a soft spot for animals, and a life of your own. You’re affectionate but not clingy. You have a good sense of style (not a walk-in closet full of Hugo Boss but pride in your appearance). You know that "irregardless" is not a word and don't get turned off by the mention of "subtitles" or "independent films". You're a lefty (politically, not physically) with a good sense of humour, one that compliments mine. You laugh from the same place in your gut that you did when you were a kid and you love music as much as me. You’re open-hearted and don't mind talking about who you REALLY are. You'll ask me questions and when I ask you, I'll want to listen. That's important. Also I don't eat meat so if you're a hunter, we probably aren't a good match. And I don't think my type of guy would ever post a shirtless photo of themselves on here, fail to use proper punctuation or send me a first email that simply says "hey, wanna chat?" and nothing else. I'm sorry if that comes off as b*tchy because I'm not.

My preference on a first date is to keep it light and just have a drink or a coffee and talk, get to know each other. I enjoy a good conversation in a casual atmosphere and that, to me, is an ideal way to start something.
